Great small town country store. Has everything you need. Deli, meats, grocery, lottery, beer, wine and produce, too. Good craft beer selection. Friendly staff. I’m not a regular, and they were very pleasant. No restroom, but that’s not uncommon in Vermont. There’s a port-a-potty outside. No creemmees. But there’s free WiFi.

Who are these "local guides" who are praising this establishment? I'm a visitor, and I feel that I was misled by these reviews.

This very tiny market is cute enough from the outside, but don't go in! This is not a grocery store. There are hardly any fresh vegetables, and the fresh meat selection is lacking. The steaks we saw had been expired for two days. The loose potatoes were all small. The store does have a full-sized deli, which apparently these "local guides" really dig. You will find basic canned goods, cereal, crackers, Cabot cheese, butter, and bread. I'm giving them three stars for a decent wine selection.

The local guide raves are proof to me that you can't go by Google ratings anymore. You have to read...

1st time we got grinders they were the best ever almost as good as Janas the fresh made bread shaved meat fresh lettuce i drove there today over hour a way from home and today not good at all very unhappy with the grinders the meat was thick and parts were that thick fat or something and u can't chew it the lettuce was gross chemically tasting 4 of us threw out our food maybe bagged not sure. Janas cupboard will be a sure thing no more wasting money. The meats and other items are good there though. When a place makes their own fresh bread they should never use processed bagged veggies high...

Full disclosure: I only shop at Hanley’s but I had a gift card for CVM, so I decided to go get a sandwich. I rang the bell, got no answer. Went to the lady at register who rudely told me to go ring the bell. I rang the bell again, no answer. Went back to the lady visibly upset and said I guess she’s not making sandwiches today and left because she didn’t seem to care. I just feel like the Vermont thing to do - since the store was empty - was to get off your phone, stop your conversation, and get someone to attend the counter.

If you’re looking for real Vermont customer service, go...
