I contracted these guys to replace the electronics in my offshore boat. They walked me through the details in the options being sure that I got exactly what I wanted, That the choice of electronics matched the need. They also are removing and reinstalling some equipment that was improperly installed by another company. There was an error made along the way that cost me some money. They stepped up and made things right. Good customer service. Looking forward to getting out on the water this summer with the new set up, properly installed and functioning!
This is an update and correction to detail my horrendous experience with this company. My electronics package was scheduled for installation prior to the start of the 2022 summer fishing season. It's still not done in February 2023. In May 2022, the remainder of the work was scheduled to be done. When i called to check on the status of the job (during the period it was to be done), they were unprepared to answer me and said they would return my call. I did not hear from them. I called again the next day to be told that they could get to it in 3 weeks. This was 4 days after my haul out date, so the boat had already been relocated at additional expense. I protested and asked that they cover the additional, avoidable yard storage and boat relocation fees. After much disagreement and the owner blaming everyone but themselves, they agreed to pay for half the yard fees. I was left with the impression that the work was now rescheduled for about 3 weeks from now. As that time approached, I called to inquire about the progress, as the boat would now need to be hauled out. They said we are not doing your work, and that I needed to read the email they sent me. When I found the email and read it, it stated that they were firing me as a client and keeping my transducer, a part that had been on back order for about 5 months. Furthermore, I had provided a deposit to pay for materials, but the refused to give me the part for which I had paid. The work that was performed was poorly done. One of the displays was mounted at the wrong helm station. None of the additional wiring was run, which was needed to make the new displays work properly (at 2 helms). The main display was not configures at all so that the colors on the radar display were non-typical. The autopilot was not serviced and fixed, and they had disconnected the power source and left the power cable dropped down into the depths of the helm station wiring. They charged me about 60% of the proposed total for essentially parts only, and simply swapping out the units, but not properly installing properly, and making the unit functional. And they kept the transducer. The failing transducer on the boat was the impetus to replacing the electronics in the first place. So for about $9,000 I got 3 new display units that displayed the same poorly functioning transducer information, and improperly configured. They blamed everyone but themselves. I didn't hire the several people in the supply chain they wanted to blame. IF they didn't have a part, they knew that days before and the day of scheduled service. They failed to inform me, which would have resulted in avoiding the additional yard fees. I have hired another firm and they are on schedule for installing the transducer, relocating one of the displays to its proper position and running cables needed to make the system function properly. And the autopilot is being serviced this week so that it works properly. 2022 was a wasted season, with poorly working electronics after dumping $9K into it. Avoid this dodgy outfit and choose a professional service if you want to enjoy...

I want to thank you both. After extensive bleeding of the Capilano Hydraulic System and a Sea Trial, the Garmin V2 Smart Pump continued to produce a loud squeak resonating thru the copper lines of Sea Dweller. Sea Dweller returned to Mid Shore Electronics where Josh unboxed the remanufactured V2 pump that Garmin International shipped me while in Newport, Rhode Island. After Josh installed the pump, performed the bleeding of the Capilano Hydraulic System a second time, the second Sea Trial went wellđđ For the first time since the delivery of Sea Dweller in January the Auto Pilot was running without producing a loud mechanical squeak during following seas and turns.
I expressed concerns with Josh on the relocation of the Shadow Drive solenoid. Itâs a great deal of work.
Josh called Garmin Technical Support. Garmin confirmed the original location of the Shadow Drive Solenoid at the return line in the lazarette near the Garmin V2 Smart Pump. They seem to agree that it's important to replace the V2 pump and bleed system first. If the Shadow Drive does not improve in performance, move forward with the relocation.
After Josh replaced the V2 pump and bleed the steering systems, Shadow Drive was working much better, however the pump began to squeak again resonating thru the copper lines.
Air is getting trapped in the return line to the Garmin V2 Smart Pump. I have since discovered that a Garmin V2 Smart Pump return line does not have the required Capilano Hydraulic Steering System rev2 âSeaStar HA5404 Fill and Purge Valveâ. This valve was never installed in Lazarette to improve bleeding per Capilano Fill and Purging installation. I'm still working with Kadey Krogen Yachts to resolve this issue.
Marino Andreoli with Garmin did recommend Power Bleeder. Although this is a critical service tool for purging air from a hydraulic steering system, Garmin could not provide the tool to Mid-Shore
Josh and Joe were wonderful to work with however I wished that Garmin could having provided better support and got Mid-Shore Electronics the Power Bleeder that may have been able to remove trapped air in Garmin V2 Smart Pump...
Read moreI recently had an unfortunate electrical issue with my boat while on a 2 week adventure with my family. Our 30 amp electric receptacle corroded and almost burned down our boat. We were in Saint Michaels at the marina and did not have any way to get the part and a new cord we needed as it is a small town and does not have taxis or Ubers, and the parts we needed were 20+ miles away. I reached out to every marine shop and electrician I could find on Google and Mid-Shore Electronics was the only person to offer to help. Unfortunately they were not able to do the work I needed that day, but offered to pick up the parts for me understanding the bind I was in. I was a bit confused, but when he showed up with my parts and did not have any other agenda but to help me out, I was amazed. He totally could have fleeced me, and honestly I would have paid. I can not speak to the quality of Mid-Shore Electricâs quality of work, but I can speak to their integrity, which in my opinion is impeccable. This is a company...
