Wanted to write a review of this place to help others. Our server was fantastic; we had a big part of 13 with some kids. So it's not always easy.
Know what the restaurant has two offers: 1) the cold buffet is about $28 and 2) the hot buffet is about $59 per person.
The restaurant is a buffet. There are two choices, full buffet which includes cold items and hot items... and there is the half buffet which includes cold items only.
Cold Items primarily include all you can eat oysters, bite sized tuna cubes, and cocktail shrimp. There are small desserts and salads. Hot buffet included rib-eye and salmon.
I had my fill of cocktail shrimp and oysters.
There are appetizers that can be ordered, but they truly are just appetizers. And yes, kid menu exists.
Not to mention... my daughter wanted to get something off the charcuterie plate... but there were flies around it. My daughter also wanted to make a salad... but there was no lettuce available.
Additionally... my daughter and my niece each picked a piece of fish from the same board... one was very salty, one was very bland.
We ordered grilled chicken... it took extra long for it to come out... it came out raw! Even the server agreed and...
Read moreJust stayed at the Hyatt this past weekend. On check in the guy behind the desk told us The Blue Point is renowned for its seafood. The crab bisque contained very little crab. Crab dip was ok, and did have crab, but was just ok. The menu posted online did not contain a lot of seafood but gave it a try. Only to find out the menu posted on line was for another restaurant in the hotel and the Blue Point still did not have many choices just some fish. Ordered a whole Vermilion Snapper. It came out smelling pretty fishy, just means its old, it wasn't fresh fish. It was dry and just tasted ok at best. I thought at first I was getting Red Snapper but I discussed it at length with the server. I did that because his Indian accent was so thick I had a hard time understanding him. Not being mean, just the truth. We were thinking about taking desert back to the hotel. Only to watch through the kitchen window to see one of the cooks pull an already made desert pastry out of the frig and wipe off the bowl and put it in the microwave. We went back and got desert at the hotel which wasn't good either. Its a decent hotel. Just don't...
Read moreMy wife and I enjoyed a really good meal here, or it could be that we were really hungry when we went. Still, what we liked, that was different than most restaurant offerings, were the cornbread muffins. The menu isn't robust like a 5-star dining experience, but it more than makes up for it in it's presentation and taste. What was interesting as well as tasty were the calamari fries - this new take on the popular seafood dish was a deep fried cheese stick like option, but perfectly seasoned and accompanied with two dipping sauces.
We ordered the jambalaya and the fish and chips and these meal options were also just as amazing. The jambalaya was slightly spicy, but not a killer inedible type of spiciness; and the fish was tempura battered and chips (or fries) were perfectly prepared with just the right touch of seasoning. For drinks, we just had them make us sweet tea with an agave nectar sweetener which is just as good as any other place you'd order sweet tea from. Overall, we would recommend this place because the taste and presentation were really good and the options were adequately priced. Stop by if you...
