One winter, probaly in the late 1990s, my dad brought my brother and I here with a long sled. We spent about an hour climbing the mountain in about a foot of fresh snow. It was exhausting but the view from the top was well worth it. Once it was time to head back down we all hopped in on the sled and started down the curving trail around Mt Battie. What took us about an hour to climb was reduced to about fifteen minutes on the sled. I plan visit this mountain again in the future and try to recreate that experience.

   Read moreGreat hike! Steep and fairly slippery in places when wet, but if you can do a bit of bouldering and have solid, grippy shoes, you should be ok. I was wearing Vans. :/ They were ok until they got wet. I only slipped badly once though so that’s good! At the top there is a small castle turret you can climb for a slightly better view than the ground, but it looks cool, so there’s that. :) We caught good weather on the top and could see the whole valley.
