Marvel Theatre — Local services in Carlinville

I've never deleted a past review to give a re-review, nor walked out of a theater, but this 1 star review deserves an explanation.

I went to see The Batman on a Friday night and the experience was quite frankly awful. The two main reasons were lighting and lack of proper audio. There were side isle lights projecting not only downwards (you know for safety) but also upwards which cast way to much ambient light onto the screen and made everything washed out like an early 2000's home-theater projector. Furthermore the audio was entirely front channel and over-saturated with base. in prior visits the 5.1 surround sound was acceptable in Cinema 1 and fairly well balanced given the limitations of the old-a** building, but while walking out of the Batman I stood next to both the rear-right, and rear-left speakers for a good ~15 seconds on each side and there was barely any output.

I only see 2-3 movies a year, and honestly the experience at the Litchfield Westside Cinema is far better then the sadness that is the Carlinville Marvel Theater in it's current state.

Maybe I'll try Cinema 2 for another viewing this year, but that upstairs theater/converted balcony has serious ventilation issues and I wouldn't recommend it unless it's less than...

The Marvel Theatre is the HIGHLIGHT of Carlinville. I was so thrilled when it reopened. The decor is really refreshing and preserves history. The workers are always kind. THE DEALS! I was able to see so many movies when I lived in Carlinville because it's so affordable. They have great movies too: I saw Rogue One, La La Land, Solo, Ocean's Eight and so many more. This was the definition of "the movies" that I learned to know and love over my years in this town. Every time I went, I was welcomed by staff that was more courteous than any other big-scale cinema I've been to. The seats are great, the screens are top-quality, and the whole place gives off the same old-time vibes of Route 66 with a modern twist. It's a great cost-efficient date...
