The Hive at Busy Bee — Local services in Carlisle

I have a mixed review for The Hive at Busy Bee as a recent bride. It is a beautiful venue, pretty scenery, large space for many guests, good parking, pretty backdrops for photos, the set-up is well designed and a gorgeous bridal and groom suite. The communication is poor when you are renting the venue as to getting responses to questions you might have as a bride like myself. I was told back in an email that she only responds once a week to messages (I was not informed of that ahead of time so I was concerned my messages were not getting delivered). I was told by the owner that my guests did not tip enough to pay her bar staff the night of my wedding. (I paid an 18% gratuity ahead of time for this staff specifically). That 18% was paid on top of my rental of the venue as well as money we spent on top of that for a beverage package.. Two of my bridesmaids were walked in on at the end of the night (9:30pm) in the locked bridal suite by staff wanting to put items away.. Even though our contract was to have it until 12am. Also I had several wedding party members that walked into the locked bridal suite throughout the day and evening to items of ours being searched by staff for no reason given.. I was told about this after the event ended and when I addressed it via email with the owner about my concerns I was told I should have addressed it at the event.. As a bride I would not have caused a scene on my biggest day let alone it is something I should not have to address in the first place because it should have never happened. Again, I was not even told until after the event had taken place. When I got an email back from the owner about these concerns it basically summed up that she was taking her employees word over mine because (she) "is a nurse, training for her doctorate in a very specific form of nursing for elderly people".. To summarize, it is a beautiful venue, close to Des Moines and can house quite a few people. The downsides were poor communication as well as many other items when addressed with the owner were...

This is a hidden jewel.. The facility is beautiful, great parking, but could us better signage. Maybe road signs to tell you its ahead and a bigger sign out front. Once there it is large ,air conditioned, and many exists, surrounded by beautiful flowers and natural...
