I've spent a lot if money in this store over the last 5 years and always had excellent experiences, until the other day when I went to get fencing. We parked in front of the fencing area because we just needed one roll of fence. In and out. We went inside to pay and another lady asked us to move our truck so they could load some fencing. The cashiers had a line so my husband ran out and loaded the roll of fence (since there was no one around to help) while I waited inside in line. When we got to the register my husband informed them we had loaded it because these other people needed in. The assistant manager (female, dark hair, older, didn't catch her name) proceeded to rudely tell my husband that he can't do that because he needs to pay first. Now, I understand she was trying to do her job, but there are 1000 other ways she could have handled this rather than being extremely rude right out if the gate. My husband then said "ok next time I will can I just pay and I'll get out of your hair". Then, she proceeded to reprimand him and antagonize him until he was upset and just trying to exit the situation. I sent him outside to avoid any furher conflict. Then, I proceeded to stand in line for 20 minutes while they attempted to find a sku because it was not in their fencing inventory book (which said assistant manager argued and said it HAD to be in there because she handles the fencing, obviously not very well) it took 5, yes 5, employees to figure this out. All meanwhile the first cashier is trying to tell them she knows which sku it is and they ignored her. As we left the store said assistant manager proceeded to follow me out and threaten to kick us out of the store. This is after I sent my husband away and the conflict was sorted. She just felt she needed to continue the conflict obviously, all because she has some bad attitude she can't control. All in all my point is she should probably take some classes in people skills so perhaps next time she can have a better reaction and perhaps learn when enough is enough and to let the drama go. I will not be returning to this store, I will not recommend this store, and I hope action is taken to rid this lovely store of this...
Read moreMy experience working here has been disappointing and frustrating, primarily due to issues that could easily be improved with better communication and management. There is a clear breakdown in communication between corporate and the stores, as well as within corporate itself. This disconnect causes regular confusion, particularly around special orders and backhaul logistics, leaving employees to navigate challenges without the support we need.
The Carson location, in particular, has been neglected in ways that affect daily operations and morale. It’s clear that this store requires more attention and resources from corporate to address the issues that repeatedly come up.
Training is another major concern. After removing the RanchHouse training system, there has been no effective replacement, leaving gaps in preparation that set employees up for mistakes. This lack of structured training makes it difficult for employees to perform tasks confidently, especially for those new to complex and safety-sensitive duties.
Compensation is also an issue. Starting wages are low, considering the physical demands of the job, which involve lifting heavy loads, operating forklifts, and handling propane. Despite completing training for these tasks, employees are rarely given the promised raises, leaving them to feel undervalued despite the skill and effort required in this role. My only raises were minimal and associated with department changes, which is discouraging.
Finally, corporate’s approach to implementing new systems and software is problematic. Changes are often rolled out without proper planning or training, causing disruption and making a challenging work environment even more difficult.
Overall, I would not recommend this company until it takes steps to improve communication, provide adequate training, and follow through on promises related to compensation. These improvements would not only benefit employees but also enhance customer service and...
Read moreThis place is so ridiculous. This morning my fiance bought a tshirt for $25.00... when he got home he decided that he didn't like the shirt. We walked in at 815pm to return the shirt, we gave the item and the receipt to the cashier, and a moment later she informs us that the shirt is actually a 2 piece set. My fiance tells the Cashier that he had only bought the shirt. He explained that there was a flannel piece on the shirt but he didn't think it came with that shirt because it was in no way attached to the tshirt. The cashier had to call her manager over and the moment the manager entered in on the situation, everything went south. The manager would not listen to me or my fiance. She just kept repeating that it was a 2pc set, and if the 2 pieces were not together, a return would not be honored. We tried to explain that he had only paid for the shirt, and that he had thrown the flannal piece down one of the aisles... she did not believe us. She even said "i know that it comes with 2 pieces, my son has the exact same one " and she looked at my fiance and said "show me where you threw it" my fiance looked everywhere, and finally said that maybe another employee had picked it up. This manager was so rude and she straight said "nothing gets picked up around here" i was talking to myself and said that it has to be here because it never left the building... she then comes back with "thats not possible, it went home with him" ugh! This lady was straight rude, and her customer service was a joke. This place is horrible. My fiance even heard the manager say that she would not accept the return either way, because it was a clearance item.... how the hell is a $25.00 basic tshirt, 25$ and be a...
