What a great little shop!
The owners are a local couple, who were super nice and thoroughly humored every question I had, including product info, pricing inquiries, business model, and their gaming community. When I arrived, it was shortly after opening, and they were in the middle of playing a board game, but happily suspended play to engage me (thankfully, I only took up about 30 minutes of their time).
The store is clean, inviting, and well-organized. There is lots of parking and a wheelchair ramp, and they are close to other local amenities (food options, gas stations, other local shops, and moments away from the Edaville theme park). They are fairly close to I-495 and off a main road, making them very accessible despite their otherwise "remote" location
They have a very good inventory of many types of games and accessories. Their rewards program is decent, and they have some cool incentive programs like their "quest card" system, where even casual players can earn awards. They are a Wizards of the Coast WPN store, and listed on the WotC website for FNMs.
They are not a Spike store, meaning prize distribution is more spread out and less top-heavy (this just means more players share in the prize pool at events). Most items are sold at or just below MSRP, and most Magic: the Gathering singles are sold at TCG Player "mid". They do allow for preorders with discounted pricing on most items, including booster boxes.
On average, their prices are in line with similar stores, but not competitive with online retailers, the only reason I might have given them 4 stars instead of a full 5 stars... but everything else about the store keeps them in 5-star quality range.
If I lived closer, I would definitely be a regular customer and probably play at their Magic events. Definitely planning to pop in whenever I am in the area with an itch to buy...
Read moreA fantastic local game shop! I currently am a regular weekly for a tournament at this Carver shop located right inside the Carver Square Plaza. The shop has a small gallery of board games, gaming supplies, and an assortment from collectible game packs (Ranging from HeroClix to Dice Masters to Pokemon to Magic: the Gathering and more).
They have a great extensive library of board games that is $5 per player for the games, which than is converted to credit you can use toward up to 50% your total purchase on products (Not tournaments or services). Both the owners are knowledge about a lot of games on the shelves and can help with that as well.
Shop hours: Sunday 10AM–8PM Monday 11AM–10PM Tuesday 11AM–10PM Wednesday 11AM–10PM Thursday 11AM–10PM Friday 11AM–11PM Saturday 10AM–10PM
Prices overall are very competitive if not lower than other local shops I have visited.
They have a large screen TV that has been used to watch Netflix during select events, Football games, or large gaming tournament events and game tutorials.
Round Table Games has a selection of snacks and drinks for sale and is located within walking distance from a gas station, bakery, breakfast, lunch, and dinner locations.
Currently for organized or pickup free play they have an active HeroClix, Magic, Dice Masters, D&D, Pokemon, and RPG community.
They also now do themed birthday parties.
So if you're in the area or looking for a regular activity for your kids or yourself that are into gaming or board games, RTG is very much worth checking out...
Read moreI was in the area for King Richards Faire and wandered in after having breakfast at a restaurant nearby. I was greeted warmly and asked if i needed help finding anything. I was impressed by the variety of games and space avalible to play. I can't speak for the owners knowledge or the attitude of the regulars, but those present for my short visit were feiendly, i didnt ask questions of the owner/worker that was present as none came to mind. Though if my local game store continues its present trends i will be trekking down from Brockton for more regular visists and be able to...
