My son attends a large HS in Cary and it is difficult to get advice from counselors who have hundreds of students assigned to them. Pirie’s business is based on personal service and in the daunting college search process this individualized attention is key. As parents we were unsure of where to begin and when to even start talking to our son about college. After one meeting with Pirie we knew we would all be in good hands. He took time to meet with my son very early in the college process and really made an effort to get to know him - his interests, his personality, his goals. Pirie suggested schools to research and patiently answered all our questions. When the time came to apply, Pirie set up a timeline for each school and followed up with my son making sure he had all his documents submitted on time. My husband and I tried to navigate the college process on our own with our oldest daughter which led to a lot of wasted time, energy and frustration trying to figure out how the application process worked, how to capitalize on her achievements and grades, and at the same time attempt to keep her on schedule with all of the looming essays and deadlines. Saying it was an absolute nightmare is an understatement. Fast-forward to our sons. One was on a non-traditional path where he was homeschooled and dual enrolled at Wake Tech and graduated with an associate's degree.
