The reviews for here are very misleading. I would give 0 stars if I could. First day of move in the floor was dusty, painting was horrendous, drains were clogging, dusty ceiling fans, dusty blinds. It was clear that they didnât clean the apartment after the previous tenant moved out. The faucets were corroded and one of the maintenance guys said well itâs not leaking so heâs not going to change it. Eventually it was changed after I raised the concern of moisture getting into and under the cabinets and attracting bugs. Then the next thing was roaches. Roaches in my dishwasher, bathroom counter, kitchen, balcony. Pest control was sent and traps were provided but I still do deal with bugs and I donât think thatâs going away. Now, itâs noisy neighbors. I hesitated mentioning it to the office team at first I thought what can they really do? And after speaking with them they assured me that they will speak to them as they want to ensure I am comfortable in my space. They even mentioned placing violations on their account for the noise. That was all talk to action.
These neighbors walk all day everyday super heavy. Itâs not footsteps but stomping. Hard stomping. And also loud creaking from the floors. Random bursts of shouting or yelling. Constantly making startling noises through the day and waking me out of my sleep at 3am-4am. I can never relax because Iâm involuntarily anticipating the next startling sound. The property manager, Krissy, now says that she considers these noises as daily movements. Apparently running, stomping, and screaming are considered to be normal daily movements to her that I should just deal with. Furthermore, she put her ear on the door and didnât hear anything so apparently that trumps everything Iâve experienced. There was one specific day that there was a young kid there and he/she was running up and down and screaming which I could hear through the ceiling. Sent a recording to Krissy and she claimed she couldnât hear the screaming.
Their suggestion is for me to move to a third floor apartment and pay higher rent. Absolutely ridiculous since I just moved in a couple months ago. I have to go through the trouble of moving again and they get more money? No way! Happy to move but Iâll need my rent to stay the same and they will need to hire movers. They also refused to release me from my lease (not surprising).
Anyway, the apartment is very old. It doesnât look that way but it is. Donât move here if you donât like bugs (or are allergic to some bugs like me) and want your mental health to be a priority. They care about the money and not residentsâ experiences unfortunately. The only good thing is the unique floor plans and kind neighbors. I canât wait to leave. If any lawyers would like to take this further, happy to have that conversation.
Message to the owners/people above Krissy: It doesnât have to always be about money. We are all human and hoping to get the best experience out of the life we have. I am not mentally okay living here and cannot afford to pay two months rent to leave. It would be nice if you would consider residents as humans. Would you like your mother/daughter/sister to be the living the way I am? Or rather would you like to be living the way I am?
Forgot to mention my kitchen pipes somehow came loose and the cabinet flooded. Like how is that possible. I was just doing dishes. I agree with the review that says the only good thing here is maintenance (the manager and assistant...
Read moreBefore I begin, let me just give credit where itâs due: Jason is one of the better land managers Iâve ever dealt with. He wasnât standoffish when I came to him with issues, and he handled these issues with tact. He didnât have to let me break my lease essentially for free but he did.
I moved in on the weekend of 9/11. Upon entering the apartment it was mostly clean, but there was a bit of grime on the countertops and bathroom, and cobwebs were present too, but the place had spent a few weeks empty. Besides that it looked fine. I got some stuff unpacked, and was loving it. However, the pleasant vibe was ruined by a water bug (ie roach) crawling on the counter that night.
There was another one the next morning. Then the afternoon. And one night I was awoken by one flying around my room at 4:30, all within two or three days. I HATE bugs, and when I realized this was not going to stop, I vacated.
Orkin came in twice over the span of two weeks, and in between bouncing back and forth from AirBnBs, I would check the status of the apartment. I would find a mix of dead and lively roaches here and there every visit, from babies to adults. Even though Jason was hitting it with everything he could, the problem was resilient.
I ultimately decided to leave for good. From the beginning, Jason promised that I could get the first monthâs rent back if I left within the first month. In the end he kept that promise.
Here are some issues though: they had other units available within the first two weeks of my moving in, but they wouldnât let me transfer at the rate Iâd agreed to initially. Prices went much higher since Iâd signed, but they would have rather stuck me with the higher rates instead of, you know, helping me out. Also, some of the staff got defensive when I asked to leave, for some reason. Commission, maybe? Still unprofessional.
The problem wasnât anyoneâs fault but I still would have wanted more grace about transferring units.
By the way, don't settle for the virtual tours - please visit the unit IN PERSON before making your...
Read moreChancery Apartment and Townhomes Village is a place I have settled in to and have finally called home. The apartment interior layout, the myriads of outdoor amenities along with the nestled tranquil community were the attention getter for me from the start. But most importantly, what sealed the deal and added to my decision to renew my lease for a second term here at Chancery Village was the Village Office Staff. Since my first lease, a few members of the staff are no longer here. But I am fortunate that the Leasing Consultant, now Assistant Community Manager, Lisa Files is still here ⌠and what a blessing. Lisa should be called out and recognized for the value she brings to the Chancery Village Community and the Simpson Housing Agency. Lisa, always in the performance of her duties, goes the âextraâ mile when interacting with the residents. I had the profound privilege of witnessing and experiencing her 1:1 consultative management skills, knowledge, and abilities as a resident when I was literally stuck and for less words, I didnât know what to do. Lisa, was patient with me and did what she does best, rolled up her sleeves and provided the personal consultative guidance I need as it related to my next move at the village. Lisa has a way of engaging with the residents and other staff and thatâs what makes the difference. Lisa, keep doing the great things you do. Simpson Housing Agency, what a great move on your part â I am glad that Lisa has moved up into management. Simpson Housing Agency, you have a great team on board here at the Village! The highlights for me: ⢠The beautifully landscaped surroundings and welcoming atmosphere. ⢠Spacious layouts, natural lighting. ⢠On-site maintenance team is responsive & promptly address issues (they rock!!!) ⢠Community events & activities organized by Chancery Village bring residents together, fostering a sense of belonging,
Chancery Village is not only an ideal place but a great place to live and call...
