I jumped 7-20-19 a day before my girlfriends' birthday. So, I wanted to make it a special birthday gift. We been together for 12 years and I've yet to pop the question. So I thought wouldn't skydiving and proposing be an awesome way to do it. I'm not a thrill seeker but she helps get me out of my shell and being a man, I can't let her do it and wait on sidelines. Peer pressure sure is real! LOL. Long story short from the first call I made to reservation line they overachieved. Rachael took my reservation and helped me set it all up without my soon to be fiancé knowing. She put excellent notes in system so when we showed up on Saturday morning at 8:00 am Skydive Castroville team knew the deal. Our skydive instructors were Tom and Brian aka "Cotton" still don't know why they call him that. Tom jumped with my fiancé and Brian with me. I'm not going to lie I was nervous as hell. They gave detailed instructions on what to do and answered questions if we had any. I guess Brian could sense nervousness on my part and he pulled me through it with his humor. He is funny and got my mind off jump for a minute until we went higher and higher and everything got smaller and smaller. He just gave a simple pat on my back and brought me back in zone since I kind of zoned out. Brian and Tom have great personalities to help first timers feel comfortable. So, I went first so I could surprise her when she landed. First hurdle jump out of plane CHECK. Second pop the question, we landed, and team had my family and kids in place to view proposal and thank God she said YES. Mission Accomplished and I couldn't have done it without Skydive Castroville team. I would high recommend getting Go Pro video to capture the whole experience form beginning to end. They do a great job editing it. This is a must...
Read moreThe absolute worst experience, ever. First, they welcomed us by calling us using their fingers instead of words only to tell us that we won’t be flying without any further explanation. I literally had to ask why we couldn’t fly and the original answer given was “for many reasons”. Later, I was able to get the truth out of them which was their plane was out of order. Then they added that the other bigger plane would be too expensive for us. This was a great way to show how apologetic they were for canceling us on the day of, at the time of our appointment. Naturally, I asked if our booking fee would be refunded if we did not wish to reschedule. The answer was surprising “no” despite the fact that we held up our end of the deal of showing up at the appointment at the time promised, as instructed.
They did allege that they have tried to contact us via email and phone number but was unable to reach us. I find this hard to believe as I received the original booking confirmation and code to the door in less than 24 hrs to the appointment. I have my suspicions that the wrong number was used or this simply did not occur.
Overall, I wish I could give negative stars to this facility. I did not appreciate the operational flaws, failure to inform customers of their situation (while I fully understand that it can happen), and the way staff represented and handled the situation with their “take it or leave it” attitude. There was never a moment even remotely apologetic during my entire encounter with this facility. How they earned 5 star review is beyond me. But maybe it is for the best that I did not fly with them. I would much prefer to take my business else where I will be valued...
Read moreSkydive Castroville was a great experience hands down. I was gifted a jump for my birthday and was taking my first jump on my actual birthday. My appointment time was at 8am, but Skydive Castroville texted us to tell us that our appointment was delayed to 10am, because they were monitoring the weather. My boyfriend and I knew that there was a possibility due to the weather/clouds so we were definitely prepared for the worst. When we arrived for my appointment we were immediately greeted and was told that they are still monitoring the weather and would try to get me to have my first jump soon as the weather clears up. They offered us drinks and told us we could hang out inside, outside or go grab something to eat and come back. My boyfriend, our dog Tiger and I stayed around outside by their picnic table area and very glad we did. Mack was outside with us keeping us company the entire time and he was a great person to meet! He kept us laughing and he made it feel like I wasn't waiting forever for my first jump. Skydive Castroville apologized for my delayed, but I told them I knew this could be a possibility and no need to apologize. Soon as the weather cleared they open the door and called my name to go take my first jump and that was around 11am. I took my first jump with my amazing instructor Russ and it was definitely worth the wait! I highly recommend this crew they are all great and very friendly!! Best...
