Several things have robbed me of time; morbid obesity, cancer, Covid, being a healthcare professional. All of the above have dominated my schedule leaving less & less time for me to address my own needs. There are only so many hours in a day and when your best made plans have to be pushed aside because your loved one needs to go for another 8 hour chemo treatment or another doctor appointment or your scheduled 12 hour work shift just expanded to 16 hours because Covid has forever changed the delivery of healthcare with less resources, there is not much time left on the clock or gas in your proverbial tank to do what you need to do for yourself. This has left me feeling tired, sore, spent and very defeated... all of which I no longer want to feel. I am taking steps to address these issues and Inner Strength is helping me do that. I have been to several gyms / workout programs before. I did not want to repeat the experience of walking in & having to ask for help from the college student who is sitting behind the front desk working there for the summer. I mean no disrespect to the student. I just wanted an educated professional who could actually answer my questions & be a reference for me that would help me work towards achieving my goals. This is the difference at Inner Strength. Their philosophy and staff are rooted in education of exercise science. This was important to me given my past medical history and concern for a safe educated approach to a plan that would be right for me. Another huge difference at Inner Strength is the respectful way in which I am treated.... whether in person in the gym, or online via email. Being a large woman in her 60's, I am usually scoffed at or ridiculed or even ignored. There is none of that at Inner Strength. I very much appreciate that I am treated with respect, kindness, dignity and like I matter. I feel seen and heard. They answer my questions, correct my form when needed and help me adapt workouts to my ability while still making sure they are beneficial to me. They want me to succeed and achieve my goals. Because of how I was treated in the past, I struggled with the decision to join yet another workout program. I actually read & re-read the website information and advertisements for 6 months before I was brave enough to click the send button for more information. It was even more difficult for me to physically show up at the facility on that first day. The very greeting on the front door says "You've done the hard part, we'll take it from here. "This spoke volumes to me. I am so glad that I walked through the door. Since I have been working with the Inner Strength staff, I feel better physically, I think better about myself and am on track for my goal of entering my approaching retirement happy and able to be more active. I used to struggle with stress/emotional eating, especially at night but now I am learning how to regulate my nutrition & make good choices even during unplanned meals. When it came to activities, I was more of an observer but now am becoming more of a participant. Recently I was able to get past my fear and hiked several moderately difficult hilly trails at a state park with my husband. These are memories I will cherish. Overall since coming to Inner Strength I am much happier and would tell you that if you are considering Inner...

Read moreI came to Inner Strength last August as a "last ditch" effort to get healthier. I joined for the 8 week intro class and seriously did not expect to continue fter the 6 weeks. I had a lot of "reasons" not to join: the gym was too far away; the only class that works was too early; I was too old for the exercises; it is too expensive; I would give up. But something happened during that 1st 6 weeks; I really enjoyed it! (Yes, I am shocked also!) All the reasons to not stay dropped away. I enjoy my quiet 20 minute morning drive, the early class starts my day right, and I was not the oldest/most out of shape member! The trainers really work with me to make sure I understand how to do the exercises and modify them if needed. Trainers and members notice if I don't show up and offer encouragement when I need it. And the cost? It is totally worth it! Since I have been working out, my fast food & alcohol budget has dropped significantly. My monthly budget has not been adversely affected and I feel better then ever! I have been at Inner Strength for 9 months and over 100 classes. I have lost weight, lost inches and have more stamina than I did before. I also have new friends! (For the record, I am well...
