Read moreWe discovered pickleball on our vacation this summer and were researching places to play in Austin when it occurred to me we might be able to refurbish our 25-year-old sport court. I contacted Sport Court of Austin and was surprised at the reasonable cost to clean the court and install a new net and paint pickleball lines. They were able to schedule an appointment within two weeks.
The morning they were scheduled to arrive, I finally went down to look more closely at the condition of the court and was dismayed to find groundcover hanging over it and infiltrating the mesh of the court in some areas. I figured they'd take one look and tell me they'd be back when I had it cleared out, but the installer just asked for a hedge trimmer and got to work! They cleared back the groundcover, cleaned years of debris under the surface, replaced light bulbs, and installed the net that day but had to return to paint the lines because of rain.
The only hiccup was that a regulation pickleball court is 22 x 44 which would leave only a foot behind the baseline. They had to shrink the dimensions which is okay. We'll just develop a tighter game and be sure to be "in" when we play regulation courts! Grandkids have already taken over the court! Having a new family game is an unexpected bonus ... I thought pickleball was an old...
Read moreDeciding on a backyard dedicated sport court is a big decision. We knew we wanted a few things for sure - at least a half court basketball with a great hoop and a batting cage that could be set up and taken down, as needed. If there were ways to integrate other sports, then great. We also knew we wanted to purchase from someone we knew had been in the Austin area for a long time and someone we could count on in the future if any issues came up. In the end, Mike Sanchez and the team at Sport Court of Austin blew away all of our expectations. Mike showed up for initial consultation and gave a great vision for our backyard and pointed out a few suggestions to ensure time on the court would be well spent. With the space we had available, we got that basketball court and batting cage and also can play pickle ball as well! The planning and installation went fantastic. Overall, I couldn’t ask for a better experience and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Mike and Sport Court to anyone who was ready to make the investment in...
