The experience was less than optimal. At time of purchase I was very impressed with the apparent knowledge of the representative and his ability to answer questions and to follow up in a timely manner with a quote. I purchased a Kohler 26KW genset with an optional Kohler Energy Management wireless kit. The install started 3/20/25. Due to scheduling conflict, they did not return to complete until 4/4/25. Upon completion of the install of the actual generator and run test the technician attempted to setup the wireless App based monitoring device. He could not get it to function reliably. He was obviously frustrated, stating a lack of knowledge as to what the issue might be. He stated he had no manual and had issues with Kohler Corp being any help at all. The results were no better on his second visit. I contacted Kohler the next day and in a short time, with their help, the issue was exposed. The receiver had been installed inside the generator's housing which was apparently blocking the signal. The Kohler representative stated the receiver was weather rated and had to be mounted outside the generator housing, as stated in the manual. I asked Kohler if they would send me a copy of the manual. It was emailed to me at time of request. I contacted the tech and filled him in on what I had learned. When asked when he could come by and finish the setup/ install he said "maybe Friday 4/11/25" which is today, 23 days from start of installation. It is noon and I have not yet received follow up communication regarding completion of installation. To be fair I don't hold the tech totally responsible. His lack of understanding of the wireless device indicates a lack of training. That's the responsibility of One Source. The two star rating is a result of lack of communication and timely follow up to resolve the...
Read moreOne Source provides exceptional service! And the company is appropriately named because I had a plumbing issue and an electrical problem at the same time. Tony and Drew, the plumbers, arrived that morning--on time and after calling me to say they were on their way--and were so nice and professional. They installed a new garbage disposal, and Tony also checked every area in the house that had water running to it to make sure I didn't have any leaks or other problems. When I started to replace items under the sink, I saw that the area was immaculate. I never would have known that anyone had been there working. And the disposal purrs like a kitten. After they had left, Landon, the electrician, arrived that same day and quickly diagnosed the problem with the overhead light in my kitchen. I thought it might not be working because there was something wrong with the wall switch, but Landon quickly discovered that it was the light itself. Landon was so nice (he even offered to pick up the light I wanted at the store for me, but it had to be ordered). And then there was a delivery delay, but as soon as the light arrived, I called One Source and Landon was there to install it. And he did an outstanding job. When he was finished, he vacuumed the kitchen floor and even wiped down my countertops. Honestly, I think the room was cleaner when they left than when they arrived. I also want to mention the office staff. I spoke with 3 different women throughout the process and each of them was so kind, efficient and helpful. One Source has the best employees, and it was a pleasure working with...
Read moreI recently had a service call for my Navien NPE-240A tankless water heater (manufactured July 2019), which was not heating water despite showing no error codes. The technician charged an $89 call-out fee but was unable to diagnose or fix the issue. Instead, they recommended a full replacement of the unit, quoting a cost of $4,000–$6,000. This was surprising, as the heater is only six years old and potentially still under warranty for the heat exchanger (15 years for residential use). After the technician left, I troubleshooted the issue myself, following basic steps like checking the water inlet filter and gas supply. I identified the problem and found a replacement part online for just $15. The part was delivered quickly, and I installed it myself, restoring hot water functionality without issue. While I appreciate the technician’s time, I’m disappointed by the lack of expertise in diagnosing a relatively simple problem with a Navien system. It’s unclear whether this was a lack of training or an attempt to upsell a costly replacement, but I’ll give the benefit of the doubt and assume the former. I strongly suggest the company ensure technicians are better trained on Navien tankless systems, especially for units like the NPE-240A, which are common and have specific maintenance needs (e.g., descaling, filter cleaning). The $89 call-out fee feels unreasonable when the service provided no resolution and the issue was easily fixable with minimal cost. I hope this feedback helps improve future service calls, as I’d like to see the company uphold the quality expected from a brand...
