Iāve been coming to this range for years, but today left me with a terrible feeling after an upsetting, racially charged encounter.
After purchasing a bucket of balls and finishing up at the range, my mom and I went over to the putting green to practice. An older white man in a hat, unclear if he worked there or he was just there, approached us immediately and began questioning whether we had paid. He assumed we hadnāt purchased a bucket and said, rudely, āYou canāt play here unless youāre a member.ā
I politely explained that we were just practicing and that the posted rules clearly state that use of the putting green is allowed with a bucket purchase. Instead of listening, he changed his story and said, āRead the rules,ā in a condescending tone, as if I didnāt understand English.
I reiterated that we had already purchased a bucket, but then he kept saying that since there were two of us, we needed to prove we bought two buckets. I pushed back, and only then did he back off and say he would ālet us play.ā
Let us? Who is he to decide that? And why approach us with such hostility and suspicion in the first place?
I told him not to speak to us like that and that we would just walk away. My mom is the kindest and most respectful person- you wonāt find a more polite guest here. We didnāt deserve to be treated this way. As an Asian woman, Iām always vigilant when Iām with my mother, and this kind of interaction leaves a lasting, painful impact.
This place needs to do better. If that man works here (maybe he was pretending to work there because the front desk person was really nice) I hope the management seriously reconsiders who they allow to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'll be honest in this review. I'm on vacation in the area from southeast Georgia. Let me foreshadow this review by saying this was the worst golf experience of my life and, if you understood my history, that's saying a lot. We wanted to give a par three course a go so we located the Virginia Golf Center. Upon arrival we were greeted by a kind and elderly pro who advised us about the conditions and how much the prices were, etc. So we paid and I am pleased that they offered a law enforcement discount. Now we start heading towards the tee and already observe the terrible standing water. Not a huge deal but it was later observed that it was on every hole. So we arrive to the first tee box and as soon as we stop moving, we are greeted by the largest swarm of gnats that I have ever seen. It was absolutely diabolical. Truthfully. I'm being completely honest. Worst thing ever. You couldn't swing your club without getting eaten. You couldn't take the time to look at your lie or putt line. After the first hole it was no longer about trying to have a good time golfing. It was about salvaging the money we paid and just getting through the course. I consumed enough gnats to be set on not eating for the rest of the day. It was a constant swarm of gnats that never ended. My advise is to not go here during a hot day in summer. Other side notes are that there aren't any motorized carts and pull carts are charged at 3...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreKorean kid and the older guy with glasses are insufferable. The Korean kid especially has no idea how to be customer facing at all. He is rude, always missing from the counter, and worst of all seems to always be trying to close up as early as possible.
My family has purchased separate memberships and still have been accused of sharing memberships with people by these two for months now.
I finally had the last straw today as I went in to purchase a bucket the Korean kid told me my account was labeled with a warning for sharing my membership. He very condescendingly warned me about sharing memberships although my family has already purchased multipleā¦
What a slap in the faceā¦
I ask him who even wrote that and he claims he does not know, but still wants to accuse me of it. I find it ridiculous that with 3+ memberships throughout the family that we still continue to receive false accusations of stealing every time we step foot on the grounds. At this point it seems as though they would like us to purchase 2 memberships per family member to keep them happy.
Management should seriously consider the behavior of their employees and maybe learn that a PAYING MEMBER should probably not be accused of something without management...
