$60 deposit paid days before set appointment. Received a follow up message asking if I was still coming to the requested appointment, I said yes and responded back requesting that the owner be the one to do my hair. Whoever messaged me told me that the owner will not be in due to some sort of emergency. I wish I was told this sooner as the day I requested and paid a deposit for was the day that I needed my hair done. Bad business as this location missed out on a first client and possible returning client.
UPDATE: In response to the owner's reply. I still have the text messages, in the messages I was never rude. I sent a picture of the particular hairstyle that I wanted and asked if there was anyone in the shop that can do it? I was told that the hairstyle can be achieved but to not get my hopes up if the hairstyle does not come out like the picture. After doing further research in the comments, I saw that multiple people were dissatisfied with service from other members of the shop, and that the owner was the best one equipped to achieve most hairstyles. I then sent a reply text requesting that the owner do my hair, and it was agreed upon. Suddenly the next day I get a response in the evening about some sort of emergency and to come in another day. An emergency may have been out of your control, but after I turn down to come in a new day, at that point my deposit should have been refunded since the appointment was technically canceled on the owner's end and not my on. I was inconvenienced and had to quickly find another salon to do my hair for the requested day that I wanted. The way you operate your business is the reason why you missed out on a client, and your professionalism shows the reason why you have so many...
Read moreThis review was long overdue as it’s been a minute since I gave her a try.
I was referred to Teneh and charged a higher price than her website (Boho waist length) . I did show her a pic via text and asked her the price before I got there (she say she didn't read that part of my text and apologized) . She explained that the price online is the starting price for that style
It was nighttime and I was already in the chair leaving the next day so I agreed to continue after sharing my concerns with her about it.
My braider done a great job! My hair was pretty! I wish I remembered her name because If you do go there, she is the person to see! (Only reason I have 3 instead of 2 star) she was nice and patient
So I gave another try……(to have them maintenance the edges) I called ahead and asked for the price ensuring she knew I was the same client so we can be on the same page. (Shame on me)
This time Teneh done the maintenance of ny edges, (i personally liked the braider’s art of braiding better though which again why I gave 3 stars over 2)
She charged an addtl $40 once I got there saying “oh i didn't know u hadn't took them out already or i can give you scissors to take them out yourself AND says “oh you want me to curl the ends too, thats a cost as well” (the ends were curled the initial visit)
The joke was truly on me the second visit because I went back hoping a new outcome since we spoke ahead…… Teneh really hustles those prices and I really hope she changes the way she see clients and start to make them feel valued. I now have a very sweet braider that has shown me nothing but stellar service and as well as transparency on pricing which made me trust getting...
Read moreSubject: Dissatisfaction with Recent Braiding Service
I have been a loyal customer at this establishment for over two years, consistently receiving satisfactory service until my recent visit. Although my regular stylist wasn't available, I didn't anticipate any issues since I had a positive experience with another stylist in the past.
I provided the same reference picture I always use, hoping for my usual box braids that I can style in a bun or wear down. However, upon returning from a trip, I discovered the parting was horrendous, completely deviating from the expected quality.
After contacting the owner, the proposed "pick up and grab method" was mentioned, leaving me baffled, especially given the $260.00 price tag. The initial suggestions for correction were inconvenient and limited to their availability, not mine.
Expressing my dissatisfaction and the need for a complete redo, I was met with resistance and an offer to redo only the perimeter. Unfortunately, the sloppy parting affected the entire head, and I couldn't accept a partial fix.
Despite expressing my scheduling constraints, the owner insisted on an immediate redo the next day, which clashed with my prior commitments. Regrettably, a compromise seemed impossible.
In light of the situation, I am now requesting a partial refund, a proposition initially dismissed by the salon. It's disheartening to see a dedicated client lost due to an unwillingness to find a mutually agreeable solution.
Attached are pictures for your assessment. Was this service truly worth the $260.00 price...
