Funk Brothers Furniture has done two jobs for us recently and both were done meticulously, quickly and at reasonable prices. The first was restoring the wood on our Eames chair and ottoman to its original luster. The color is beautiful - no longer faded by the sun and age. The second project was reinforcing a 1910 craftsman/mission style china cabinet that had become very rickety over the years. It is now extremely sturdy and the work was done so that it is not at all visible. Not only are they experts at their craft, but the front office staff is very knowledge, professional and great at communicating. We recently moved from CA to VA which the movers damaged some of our treasured furniture...two Queen Anne DR chairs (legs snapped off like tree branches) and our kitchen table (corner edge missing). All three items were repaired beyond expectations. One would never know or possibly see where the damage was...unbelievable! We were very nervous about these repairs since we knew no craftsmen here in Charlottesville, but be assured, your precious items will be handled with love and care. Read moreSo, 5 years ago I took the Funk Brothers batches of shutters removed from an estate. They had been stripped of all the old finish locally. This stripping process weakened all the glue joints of the original 90-year-old shutters. Once in their shop, they had all the rotted wood removed/replaced, re-squared the sagging joints of each shutter, then clamped and re-glued each joint with marine grade epoxy. 5 years later, they're still square and look great!
