I'd rather not give my opinion in a "star rating", but Google won't let me post a review if I don't. My 3 stars indicates that there was some good and bad in my experience. Below is my account of my experience with the purchasing and service department at Chattanooga Tractor & Equipment. I have purposely refrained from any opinion here. I will let you form your own opinion:
In 2023, I bought a tractor from Landon at Chattanooga Tractor & Equipment. I also spoke with salesmen at Kubota and John Deere. I found Landon to be prompt to reply. He worked with me on the price and gave me a fair-trade price for my old tractor. I was very happy with his efforts and communication. In 2025, I contacted Landon about my 50h service of the tractor. I wanted to conduct the service myself (I live an hour from CTE). He told me to document the purchase of all of the items necessary to conduct the service. I did and subsequently conducted the complete 50h service (at 49h). I videoed the process. As evident from the number of hours I put on the tractor (approximately 25h/year), I do not use the tractor a lot. After the 50 h service, I had a lot of trees fall around my property. I used the tractor for about 10 h in one day. The next morning as I went out to use the tractor for a second day in a row, I noticed the lug bolts on the left rear tire had become loose and wallowed out the rim and the hub that the rim bolts to. The threads on the hub were stripped and the holes in the rim through which the bolts pass were very large. Both the rim and the hub would need to be replaced. At this point, the tractor had 79.9 h of use. I contacted Landon and he promptly referred me to Dane in the service department. Dane was also prompt to respond. On July 24, 2025 I brought the tractor in to Chattanooga Tractor & Equipment for what I hoped would be a warranty repair (the tractor is warrantied for 10 years). However, because I did not have proof that I torqued the wheels the morning of the 10 h workday, New Holland would not warranty the repair. Specifically, New Holland International said: “The Warranty department has denied the claim after looking at the pictures they deemed it operator negligence. The amount of hours on the machine indicate that the operator should have verified the torque of the lug bolts several times during the lifecycle of this machine. We were unable to facilitate the formation any plausible narrative leading towards defects in the materials, manufacturing of said materials, or the assemblage of parts that would have produced the results that are being observed. “ Chattanooga Tractor and Equipment estimated the cost to be $2769 to fully repair the issue. As a gesture of goodwill, CTE covered the parts and 1/3 of the labor. In the end I ended up paying $918.73, which was 4.6% of the original purchase price of the tractor. On September 16, 2025, the tractor was ready to be picked up.
I gave CTE the opportunity to review and edit this review, but they chose to not do so. Stating: "I am neither confirming nor denying any...
Read moreRecently took my tractor for normal servicing (oil change,, filter replacement and replacement of fuel filters) and to also fix a known fuel leak problem. After speaking with Tanner we agreed on the servicing and the overhaul of the fuel pump in the amount of $1,200. Three days later I get a call from Tanner stating the fuel tank needs cleaning and possibly replacement, the radiator needs cleaning, and a few light bulbs need to be replaced. The new amount is now $2,300 with a $700.00 fee in the other column. I asked where did the $700 fee come from and could not get a reasonable explanation (all I could get was servicing fee). By the way, their labor shop rate is $96.00 per hour. I told Tanner no way on the amount and he needed to make adjustments, the next quote had $588.00 in the other column. At that time I felt a good hosing and asked if I just get the fuel pump overhauled how much would the bill be. It came to $1,200. So, all I got was the fuel pump overhauled. No oil change or filters replaced, which I will do myself now. Oh, and to top it off, my tractor left with the seat cushion attached to the seat and when I paid the bill I checked the tractor to assure I had a replaced fuel pump and the seat cushion was gone. Naturally, they had no idea what happened to it.
After posting this review, Nick called me within two hours and was concerned that I was not happy with the level of service I received. After several minutes of conversation back and forth, Nick said I was being reasonable and that they had drop the ball on communicating clearly. I told Nick that the seat was not that important, however, he was insistent on making things right and replaced the seat. Conner, who is over the service department called a week later and wanted to make sure I was satisfied with the outcome, and I assured him I was.
To be clear, the service was done professionally and on time. I certainly appreciate Chattanooga Tractor recognizing an issue and making sure the customer was satisfied, most companies fail in this area. Nick and his staff, with their actions, have kept me as a customer.
Thank you Nick,...
