Despite the Pandemic the past 4 year's, I personally think our local Bashas' food market here in the "Heart of the Reservation" Chinle, Az was one of the best grocery store here in Chinle, 20 year's ago. I can recall their was a previous manager named Delores Guy, who ran this store. She was very carrying and courteous. She welcome customer's that walk thru those double sliding doors with a smile.đđ she value and consider the customer's needs. I believe she showed the community the importance being a Professional Manager at the time.đâ¤ď¸ Since 20+ year's ago to today, I never seen or heard that generous Welcoming Greetings from any Supervisor's or Manager's on duty. There's only 2 courtesy clerk's on the register when it is busy, especially during lunch time and after 5 pm. There should be a Am and Pm shift leadership monitoring it's daily rush hours and knows when the Tribe, States and Government worker's paydays each week. ,It is frustrating to stand in line when you see no consideration on teamwork on getting the customer's In & Out. Yes, the Self Check lines are convenient but that doesn't help the Company Customer Service Ratings. It just Clashes it's face to face Interaction communication skills and Performance to the Customer's Greetings from the Employee's. It just shows the meaning of Lack of Supervision conduct. Due to the Gas price rising, why did the Produce meats department quantity drop tremendously, and all their selections of meats prices are at it's highest. I use to love shopping at our local Bashas' the food itself had it's Quality's Products, from Fresh Fruits to Fresh Vegetables Produce, were at a reasonable price and discounts practically everyday. I find it outrageous and unsatisfied...So I drive 25 miles all to Burnside to do my shopping now. I know it may seem the same by paying extra gas.. but if you look at it, I get more out of my money, friendly fast customer service. I don't what happened to Bashas' itself. I hope the company didn't go Republican on our Native People. Please!!! bring back the old Bashas' service....

The store does offer a decent variety of ready-made food options, which can be a real help for travelers looking for a quick bite without stopping at a full-service restaurant. Thereâs also a good selection of groceries and essentials, making it convenient for a basic stock-up.
However, there are several areas that definitely need attention. The fruit section, while stocked with whole produce, unfortunately did not have any pre-cut fruit optionsâwhich wouldâve been nice for travelers or those looking for grab-and-go healthy snacks. Itâs a small detail, but one that makes a difference.
The biggest issue I noticed was the organization and layout near the checkout area. It was quite crowded, with people standing around in a disorganized manner, and there didnât seem to be any clear direction or flow. It felt chaotic and stressful, especially during busy hours.
But by far the most disappointing aspect was the restroom. It was in very poor conditionâdirty, unpleasant, and clearly not maintained regularly. For a store that likely sees many tourists and locals alike, keeping the restrooms clean should be a basic standard.
Overall, Bashasâ has the potential to be a great pit stop, but the management really needs to work on improving the storeâs cleanliness and crowd management. A little attention to detail could go a long way in enhancing the shopping experience...
Read moreI shop here because it's the only place in town and the next closest place is a 35 minute drive. Be ready for a parking lot full of shopping carts places in random parking spots, because there's only one cart corral and most people are too lazy to do anymore than set their cart in front of their car as they leave. Then as soon as you get out of your car plan on being assaulted by panhandlers. Once inside you of course will not find any shopping carts, because as you will remember they are all outside, strategically placed. Once inside the store, to your left you find a "deli" that serves all types of food as long as all you want is chicken. The staff haven't figured out if the line forms to the left or the right. The Bakery is well stocked, which is unfortunate for a community that suffers greatly from diabetes. The one thing this Bashas has going for it is a decent produce area. The rest of the place is just a bunch of snacks, chips, soda, and fatty this and that. The real fun begins when you head to check out, four check out stations and never more than one staffed. Self check out is even worse with slow scanning technology and every item weighed in the bagging area you will constantly need an employee to run interference for you. Plan on a nap after you make your quick run for groceries, you'll need it Jeff L-8...
