Cypress Springs Adventures — Local services in Chipley

I'm writing this review for a week ago. I think the people working here are for the most part nice and run a good business. I understand they can't control what the weather does. But they can warn people far enough in advance so they don't drive all the way there, maybe an alert email system. We drove over an hour from Destin to get here really early one morning. Once we arrived, we were told the river was blown-out. The lady did call us, two minutes after our scheduled arrival time when we were in the parking lot. She told us the water wasn't blue and she wanted to communicate that with us. She said there would be "green water" at the springs, so decided to still go, since we were already there. It may have been a slight "green" color at the hole directly above the spring, but the rest of everything we encountered was chocolate milk color... literally. We would not have spent $170 and wasted a day of our vacation had we been told it was chocolate milk swamp water and 5 feet higher than normal before we left that morning. Being told "green" water is not the same as dark, milky brown. I've taken a swamp/alligator tour on a boat before... that was the same color of the water at the springs that day. We thought we could make the most of "green" water, which is why we decided to go, but once we were out there felt really uneasy the entire time. My daughter saw an alligator when we first put in, so we didn't get out of our kayaks and headed toward the pick up area quickly, as we couldn't see any sort of bottom, anywhere at the springs. I've been to Ichetucknee Springs and was so looking forward to sharing the spring experience with my friends. Absolutely Unforgettable – Top-Notch Kayaks & a Mullet for the Ages! Cypress Springs Adventures delivered an absolutely phenomenal experience, earning every single one of these five stars! From start to finish, the trip was seamless, enjoyable, and truly beautiful. First off, let's talk about the kayaks – they are clearly top quality. We've rented kayaks many times before, and these felt sturdy, comfortable, and glided through the water with ease. They were well-maintained and clearly designed for a fantastic paddling experience, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the stunning scenery of Cypress Springs. But beyond the excellent equipment, what really made our day was the staff. And I have to give a special shout-out to the young man with the bad-ass mullet! Seriously, this guy was not only incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, but his positive attitude and engaging personality truly elevated our adventure. He was efficient, friendly, and just an all-around great presence. That mullet is legendary, and so is his customer service! The whole team was fantastic, making sure we had everything we needed and giving us clear directions. Cypress Springs itself is a paradise, and Cypress Springs Adventures provides the perfect way to explore it. Overall we had a good experience. We arrived and checked in 15min early for our 10:30 departure. We ended up leaving at 11:15am with actually getting on the water by 11:30. I understand it was a busy week but I think having another van and extra workers would have made sure everyone got the time they paid for. Once we arrived to the boat ramp we discovered one of our kayaks had a broken seat and the other had broken straps. Others from our same company had broken things on their kayaks as well. There were other people at the ramp who had already been waiting for 90min to get in the water because their company (not sure which one) forgot a boat and paddles so at this point after getting delayed and everyone else delayed it was either get on the water or end our adventure.

You will want to note that the signs for turning to go upstream towards the spring are not well marked. We would have definitely missed it if someone wouldn’t have been there. There should be a bigger sign or arrows marked in orange, not green. This also goes for the takeout spot.

Once we were at the spring it was all worth it. The kids absolutely loved jumping into the water from the rope swing. The water was a bit cold but the views were beautiful.

Everyone at the office was super nice. Some money definitely need to be invested into the business but overall it made for an affordable family...
