Chocolay Ace Hardware — Local services in Chocolay Township

I stopped into Ace today to buy some copper wire. I made my selection, went to the register, and was charged at least 2$ more on each product. I notified my cashier that the prices seemed incorrect and that I was going to go check. Indeed, prices were marked lower on the shelf. The cashier, Doug, then rudely asked what I wanted him to do about it. I asked him to honor the displayed price, and he then suggested he just refund my entire purchase so I can take my business elsewhere. (I have been looking for this wire other places, and was unable to find it) I informed him that I would just like him to honor the listed prices. Since I paid with a debit card, he said it was just easier to change the prices and began the correction. While he made the corrections, he complained that I was ripping the store off, and that he shouldn't have to change the price for me because they are short staffed and haven't gotten their price changes done. He brought up another employee and told him to "go change the prices on these products right now, because she is ripping the store off."

When he completed the correction, he tossed my bag to the front of the counter, and said "Thanks, have a nice day, Don't come back."

Two stars, because I am glad they had the products I needed, but that kind customer service sucks. I'm sorry your store is currently understaffed, but representatives should not treat customers like that under any circumstances. Next time I'll just order from Amazon instead of supporting my independently owned local...

Do not go here to have a key cut. I went in to see if they had a key for my car. They didn't have it in stock so they would have to order it. No problem. Them it was backordered and they had no idea when it would come in. Ok they quoted me $140 to have it cut and programmed. It was cheaper then going to the dealer and I didn't urgently need it. Two weeks go by and I call to see where it is and he says he called to order the key on the weekend and it would be another week before it came in. Later that week my key stops working the service anti theft system light is on. I need this key. Monday rolls around I call and they key is in. My husband goes in the next day to have it cut and they cut it wrong but they also said it would be $170 for the key and then $30 more for the programming fee. . He goes back the next day right after they open and the guy isn't there until noon so we go to the dealer and that is where I will go to have...

I used to shop at this store even though everything is 2 to 3 dollars more, I shopped for convenience and to shop and help the community. I had purchased some floetrol for art painting, 3 gallons and the first one was fine, opened the 2nd one and it stunk so bad, I opened the 3rd gal it also stunk terrible. So I brought the 2 back to exchange them for good stuff, well they gave me the 3rd degree because I didn't have a receipt, well I would never have thought that I would need to return floetrol and I didn't want to return it, I wanted to exchange it for some that would work for painting. They wouldn't stand behind there sale basically I am out 30 dollars they are on my list to never shop there again. I paid 2 dollars more per gallon to get a big f u from them....
