It's clean and their produce and meat departments are well maintained. When ground beef is on sale things that go with it are on sale too. From spaghetti to tacos and more. They have much cheaper prices than Food City
Update I believe I have just become a pescatarian. Quite a while back I had purchased a pork roast and when I was preparing it I told my husband that if that was pork I'd eat my shoe. When you have been cooking over 50 years you know what meat looks, smells and cuts like and it was meat but when I flipped it over I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that I was not eating one bite of it. My husband will eat anything with enough ketchup or gravy and he agreed that it wasn't pork but he ate it.
Fast forward to yesterday and a massive pack of country style ribs. Or so they said. So greasy that I needed dawn dish soap twice to get my hands clean after prepping it. Connective tissue and fat not resembling and pork I've ever seen and had a motor oil smell. I was nauseous just smelling it but a bottle and a half of BBQ sauce meant my husband did. I am a picky eater (as hubby says "an Eastman kid") but I don't even want to think about what that might have been. I can't buy any meat at Food Lion again. I'm not going to say what the bottom of the roast looked like but it is now haunting me.
I had previously given a 5 star review but I am more than...
Read moreFirst off....I had quit coming to the Church Hill store because the cashier's are rude and hateful. But, today they had Pepsi products on sale so, I thought I would run in and get a few items. Probably never again. I went to check out and Kaycee, the cashier, never spoke 1 word to me....only talking to the girl bagger slinging my groceries around in the buggy...so much, the food was coming out of the bag back into the buggy. I paid, they never said thank you or anything. I had to proceed to tell them how rude I thought they were. I apologized to the customer behind me and he said, with a big smile, " no need to apologize." Kinda like he knew exactly what I was talking about. If I had it to do over I would have told them to put my few items back. I guess they just settle for whoever they can get to work...
Read moreI haven't been in a food lion in over 15 years. All the stores in and around knoxville had closed due to poor management. Moved up to the tri cities and had a good friend mention what a clean and tidy store this was. I had to double check that it was a food lion. I thought they'd all been closed. What a great little treasure this one is. I went in for a cursory look and purchase a few staples as a test. I spent over $100 on my very first visit. I'll have to get pictures on the next visit. I wasn't prepared for such a wonderful experience. No great crowds is a plus. But the shelves are all stocked and neat. The produce is all fresh and delicious. The variety is a bit short on a few select items. But the overall experience is terrific. The meat department called for a few excellent purchases and I'll be back...
