Dark Door Spirits — Local services in Citrus Park

I'm already planning my next trip to this unique and fun open-air warehouse distillery experience conveniently located near Tampa airport. There is something for everyone, and these spirits are so tasty that you will even appreciate them straight! The lavender gin is seriously swoon-worthy, and the vodka is smooth and delicious, plus they're blending some serious barrel-strength whiskey that even bourbon snobs will appreciate. The staff are so friendly and informative and a true pleasure to work with, but my favorite part of Dark Door Spirits is their unique events, with an opportunity to experience something new with each visit. Their cocktail classes are incredible, with tutorials for making craft cocktails, full-sized pours to enjoy, plus the cutest and yummiest grazing box that totally stole my heart! I recently attended their gin blending class where we were able to create our own custom gin blend using infused botanicals and fruits and herbs, and it was hands-down one of my favorite things I've ever done! And all my friends raved about how delicious the gin is upon sharing! They also offer whiskey blending classes, art exhibitions, music events, and more (check out their social media, which always inspires!) Visited here for a Prohibition Speakeasy themed event. The performers including the live jazz band were phenomenal. Dark Door Spirits seemed woefully unprepared for the event however. It was a ticketed event and there were not enough chairs. There was only one bartender to serve 80 or so guests…there was often a 10 minute wait for a drink at a SPEAKEASY themed event. I don’t blame the guy tending bar, though when I asked why he was alone he just mumbled something about there being no staff to work it. To me, they should have planned and hired a few catering type bartenders and set up other bars in the venue. There are two small bathrooms, and by the end of the night they had out of order signs on the doors. IMO, Dark Door really dropped the ball on this. Again, the performers were great and I don’t blame the individual working, but they could have made this run much smoother. I would not go back for another event. Dark Door is awesome! If you’re in the Tampa area (even if all you like is a little mixed drink every now and then) this is a must do! We just showed up around 1pm and got a private tour - everyone there is welcoming, knowledgable and FUN. You can tell they really enjoy what they do and sharing what they know with others - they had just as much fun teaching us as we had learning about all of the equipment and the process of creating unique speciality spirits. I learned a lot (Im kind of a science nerd lol) but the especially fun part is getting to take what you learned to sampling portion of the tour and feel like you really understand what you’re tasting.
