Please read the entire post. We visited today, Sunday, after working up our nerve over a week, to leave the house. My wife and I both have respiratory issues, we CANNOT wear masks, I lost my job in March due to this, and my wife is on medical leave. In October of 2019 we bought a home in the area, and moved from TN. We are desperate to get the house back up to living standards, and since we cannot wear masks, we are not allowed in other building supply stores, we came to the reuse center with a list, we have about $1000 to replace a couple windows, insulate our second floor, and buy basics like a living room furniture, and household necessities. We where excited when a neighbor explained about the reuse center, our prayers where answered. Its so stressing to leave the house to do anything, buy groceries, go to Walmart for basics, etc we get attacked by people in masks upset that we are not doing our part. By all means covid should have killed us both by now. We however follow the guide lines, we maintain 6ft of distance even if we have to go out of our way to do so. We both did that today. We check our temps before we leave to be sure we are both not running a fever, we work through stress of having to run errands knowing we will be attacked. If you see someone not wearing a mask, please don't make assumptions, some of us legitimately cannot wear a mask, if you are afraid you may catch something, just give us space, let us live our lives. We don't all have a choice. We picked today because it was a Sunday, and as our neighbor explained, the store would be slow. 10 minutes into our visit, an employee broke social distancing guide lines, got into my maskless face and told me to put a mask on. I explained I cannot wear a mask due to medicals conditions, he then asked what about my wife, I explained she cannot either, he told us to leave and would not sell us the things we had picked out. So we did just that, we set down our stuff we had been carrying, and left. What doesn't make sense to me is if we are such a threat, wouldn't you want us to take our possibly covid taunted stuff we had picked up??? As per my lawyers instructions, if a business is doing so well they can ask a person to leave even after explaining you are medically exempt, do not ever give them business again. Sadly our answered prayers are not with Otsego reuse center. As as far as New York being a friendly state, once our home is finished, we will be selling it and moving out of state. Thank you Otsego Reuse center. You are now on the list of 6 businesses that are doing so well during this that they can afford to throw people out, and deny service. You are however the first "small" business to do so. If I could give zero...
Read moreI found this place out of nowhere on a side street of oneonta. I have been doing a lot of remodeling in the new house I purchased and they have almost everything you will ever need for furnishing and repairs. All the products are donated and sprawl across two large wearhouses, with a staff that was so helpful and friendly, that I might have to come here more often for my remodeling needs.
A quick example of their stock: -Desks -doors -toilets -couches -bed...
