Nguyen Phat Oriental Store — Local services in City of Utica

Shopped here several times. The store is extremely cramped for space and hard to navigate,let alone with a walker device as I'm handicapped! Aisles are very narrow, to the point you have to turn sideways to access them. They have live crab and other creatures at the very front of the store and no visible ice as they aren't in coolers. I was tempted to buy a Dungeness crab, but didn't because of how they were kept. Thats the bad remarks. The good news is if it's Oriental they have it! They have English speaking staff ( both Asian and "American") who can usually answer your questions. I buy my dark soy sauce and oyster sauce there, and certain types of specialty sauces and condiments. They have a variety of herbal teas which I want to try. The language is everything but English! I hate to be a pain and ask what each and every box is! They have rice, and rice noodles,rice flour, wheat noodles as well. Frozen won ton wrappers, springroll wrappers too. I wish I had a friend who was Chinese to better help me shop. Overall, its the only place in Utica I've been able to find what I need. I don't know why everyone says this place is friendly and helpful. Went for the first time today to get medicinal herb ointment for back ache as recommended by my acupuncturist. I was next in line and when I tried to ask about the ointments which were behind the cashier, she completely ignored me and helped an Asian woman who was behind me.
