Played in middle of July 2025. First time playing. Very scenic layout - with some tight holes thru the trees, elevation changes, and strategic hazards. It had rained earlier so greens weren’t as fast as they could be - but still had great pace.

The front 9 is a little easier than the back. The Par 5, 8th requires a precise layup, but other than that, the front is pretty straightforward. The back has some tough holes, with forced carries and doglegs. 15-18 is a challenging 4 hole finishing stretch, with little margin for error.

For being a northern michigan course I was surprised they didn’t have twilight rates in the afternoon/evening. Considering I played as a single after 4, I would’ve expected to pay less than peak rates. I knew that going in, but am still surprised they don’t do twilight rates at all.

A final note - pace of play was great for 14 holes. I came up on some groups and played thru with no issues. That is until the 15th where I came up on a foursome - I later found out it was a group of 8, playing as 2 foursomes. No one else was ahead of them. They took 90 minutes to play the last 4 holes and did not let me play thru as a single! While I’m not going to blame the course for this wholly, my guess is these guys played at about 6 hour pace - which is unwarranted, and dampened my experience having to wait that long to play the...

Golf course is beautiful, fairways damp to "soggy wet", greens damp to wet, really tough to get a feel for speed. Pace of play is a joke. We were on the course for 4.5 hours and still had 4 holes to play. For the prices they charge, here is what they don't have and don't do: no cart gps (they tell you to download their app), no weather cover for clubs on carts, no starter, no ranger, beverage cart comes around virtually out of stock on everything, no enforcement of any kind for pace of play. Players are able to drive cart anywhere on any hole including right up next to the greens. Other players on the course hit as many balls as they want for every shot. The attitude seems to be that they are the only ones on the course, so they can do what they want. So...if you are a golfer who appreciates playing 18 holes in 4 hours or less, appreciates a decent pace of play where the course is actually respected - play somewhere else for what you are...

I don't golf. I was here for a meeting then stayed for lunch, so I can only give a review of the inside of the building/restaurant. It is pretty swanky. Not over-the-top, but overtly classy. Comfortable, for sure. The menu selection was mediocre, as was the food itself. It was only lunch, so I didn't try their drinks, but looking at their bar the selection was surprisingly limited for a place that nice. I suspect they specialize in gin and vodka based drinks. There was only 1 bottle of Scotch worth drinking on the shelf. Prices of everything were really high for what you get. As for the meeting room, it was very nice and comfortable with all the basic requirements. Not sure if they have video conference...

90 bucks for 18 of the most painstakingly slow holes I’ve ever played. Plus, 20 dollars for a bucket of 15 year old garbage range balls that a few will be busted. All that for a course that isn’t maintained well, has Zero rangers keeping pace of play, the bridges are falling apart, their food is crazy expensive for what it is, and the last hole is a giant green that is shared with another hole. No thanks. For the SAME money you can go play Arcadia south / the dozen and have a MUCH better experience and they provide TOP NOTCH range balls/ facility for free when you play a round. Outside of the smoke show of a cart girl and the cordial young staff, theres nothing really good to say.

We drove over an hour to finally play this course, and it was absolutely worth it. The service was incredible from getting greeted at our car to them helping us unload at the end. Greens are tough and fast, but true. Beautiful scenery, really thoughtful planning of the natural roll of the land and its features. Definitely worth every penny and will be on our annual list of must-visit courses!
