Last summer my husband and I went into the Claymont DE Cabinets to Go looking for kitchen cabinets in anticipation of a remodel. We had looked at several other options in the local area with significant differences in cost and quality of product sold. Shawn sat down with us and we put together a very workable design for our upcoming project and at the time even purchased our countertops as well as the new flooring for our entire home. We were very pleased with our choices and value for money spent. Our products were received in a timely manner. Then we started to have problems with the floors we chose because our home has baseboard hot water heat and attempting to install the luxury vinyl tiles was not possible because they would not interlock correctly. We then opened one of the boxes of our engineered bamboo flooring only to find they are from older lots and contained formaldehyde which is unhealthy for anyone but as my husband uses oxygen at all times it was not a viable option. So, on one of the coldest days in years, we returned all our flooring to the store. They were immediately able to refund our money on the bamboo and Shawn advocated for us to their corporate offices to refund the cost of the luxury vinyl tiles which while it took a bit of time was able to be accomplished. Fast forward a few months and numerous needed upgrades to basic systems in our home, we are now ready to build and install our cabinetry. My husband and godson begin attempting to put together the cabinets noting that the directions are only diagrams with no verbal/physical labeling of parts or the steps involved in the process. They successfully assembled the cabinet boxes but agreed that better instructions would have made the process far simpler. No complaints as far as looks or quality exist and in fact we are happy with how they appear as well as the workmanship. Then comes our next obstacle, we had self-measured for our cabinets…which was accurate in terms of actual area available but we forgot to allow for installation spacing. Now we have an upper and lower cabinet which will not fit in the expected locations and need to figure out what to do in the gap. We brainstormed coming up with the solution to go back to the store to purchase appropriate sized cabinets and use the ones which would not fit where originally intended in another area of the house. I went back to the store meeting up with Shawn again explained the problem and what we desired to do…he went into their ordering system locating the proper items and was able to give us a discount allowing us to do both upper and lower cabinets rather than having to work out an alternative for the upper portion of the wall. Next, I placed the order and they will be available to us in a couple of weeks so in the meantime we continue on our other work. In conclusion, we have had our ups and downs with our dealings at the Claymont DE Cabinets to Go but in the end, they have worked hard to ensure our satisfaction with the...
Read moreBuyer beware! Make sure you read this full review. We purchased Cabinets from Cabinets To Go but what they didn’t make clear was you could only file a claim for missing parts or broken pieces if it was within 60 days of the purchase. We stored the cabinets for a couple of months until it was time to redo our kitchen, and upon unpacking them, we discovered there were no less than 18 clips broken. My wife called in to the store to get some resolve but after the sales person kept cutting her off before she could review all the broken clips she grew frustrated. He actually told her to stop talking so he could talk. Wow that’s great sales Enrique! He Came across as such a nice man during the sales. My wife told him it would be better to hear from her than me to which he responded to my wife that if I came in and complained they were going to call the police on me. That’s right there were no threats no cursing nothing but this was his response. Naturally I got my car and went to Cabinets to Go to talk to a manager. Upon entering the store, Enrique was with a customer so I gave him that respect and went over to the other gentleman and introduced myself. I stuck my hand out but he refused to even shake my hand. I looked at him and I said you’re not going to shake my hand because honestly, I was shocked. this guy is in sales and you’re gonna tell me he doesn’t shake somebody’s hand? he said I’m not obligated to shake your hand. I said you’re not obligated to shake my head and I’m not obligated to buy any more stuff from you, or the refer people to this company. Keep in mind this gentleman did not know who I was at this point. Let me just recap so far they have two sales reps working on a Saturday. One of the sales reps Enrique sold us Well over $10,000 in cabinets and because my wife called in upset over 18 clips being broken, he stated that if I came in and complained they were going to call the police. That’s right there was no cursing. There was no threats of physical violence or any kind of a disturbance but that’s what this guy is telling my wife. Meanwhile, the other sales rep he won’t even shake your hand and is as arrogant as they get. I’ve dealt with million dollar sales reps all of my life in these two maybe it’s true where there’s one bad apple it’ll make the rest bad because their customer service is horrible. Here are pictures of clips and such that were broken after unpacking. Well over 20 clips are broken and there were several scratches and...
Read moreStaff at this location was great, but company’s policy for damaged cabinets is awful. We had a terrific experience with our previous orders, but the most recent experience was just the opposite. The initial cabinets had some damage and they did send replacement parts, but those were damaged as well. That’s when the problems with this company started. They said they closed out our case and never responded to repeated (email communications) attempts to correct the issues. As a result, and since we had contractors scheduled with time lines, we found it necessary to install the cabinets with damaged parts. We eventually were able to reengage them, but they said they’d only send us replacement parts. Despite our repeated efforts to explain to them that doing so would mean extra expense for taking the installed cabinets apart, including removal of the granite, plumbing, etc., all of which would result in more damage. Thus, that option was simply not plausible, but they did not care and insisted that was all they would do. Needless to say, we refused their offer, as we did not want to make the problem with these damaged cabinets even worse for ourselves. Thus, we are left with a substandard product and will never again recommend Cabinets to Go to anyone. Buyer beware of a company that refuses to stand behind their products, particularly with a repeat...
