I really liked Riviera foods. It is large, it is a store that has been around quite awhile, so disregard the worn floors or older displays. This store is smaller, yet actually large for a mini-mart style establishment. It is fairly expensive as it used to cater to the folks on Summer Vacation & Spring Break, ( myself included at one time, I have come to this area every Summer, for 35+ years, consecutively ) that would recreate & party, at the now closed Konocti Harbor. The Konocti Harbor establishments & recreating areas, were set to finally re-open this Summer, after being shut down for years & years & years, but the whole Covid-19 thing sort of shut that whole, wonderful re-opening event down, unfortunately. Riviera Foods is also a gas station. This place still carries quite a few, hard to find luxury items, that I haven't been able to find elsewhere in Lake County, California. I believe it is the whole catering to people set on partying without reserve thing. People come from everywhere , set on spending a lot of their money on deluxe luxury brands of : alcohol, tobacco, specialty food & especially gourmet snack & non- alcoholic, drink items that can easily be tossed into an ice chest. There is generally only one person , sometimes two on weekends , working the front of the store. So be patient. The limited staff is ultra helpful, polite & easygoing. If you are super particular, about your non essentials, as I am very , very , choosy myself, than visit Riviera Foods in The Riviera Keys of Kelseyville. It is located accross the street from the fire station. Also, if the news of the world, Bay Area & entire country, are important to you, ( local news publications are available as well ) this is definitely the place to pick up your New York Times, Boston Globe, or San Francisco Chronicle. I truly have not seen, such a wide & varied choice, of daily newspapers , anywhere else in Lake County or any surrounding county as well. This again is the probably due to the fact, that people from all around the WORLD & COUNTRY, & State, came to Konocti to relax & found the time to finally read & thoroughly enjoy a newspaper. People, generally, like to keep in touch, with the current events in the area that they are from , despite wanting to forget the rat race, crime, politics & disasters when on vacation, one still wants to be in the know. I like this place & IN FACT, I PLAN ON RETURNING TO RIVIERA FOODS, despite the 60 mile round trip for me, load my debit card to the hilt with funds, ( because this is, hands down, the absolute most expensive place I have ever purchased my favourite items at , but hey I found em right?) in order to stock up on the luxury, non-durable goods items , that I SO terribly miss & have not been able to find ANYWHERE, now that I live here & not in the ultra- cosmopolitan, cultural hub of...
Read moreSo wonderful to have the market right down the road from our house. They have quite the variety of food such as produce, meat, dairy, pantry staples, baby food, beer, drinks, ice cream, and have a hot bar and their rotisserie chickens up front (they are way better than what you get at safeway) I also love that they put in the ice cream shop at front of store and that they have donuts from Susie Q. You can also order a deli sandwich I haven't tried it yet but my husband had and said they were good.
Some things are quite pricy, but they aren't a big box chain store, so it's understandable. What you save in gas from going to safeway covers the extra cost in a pinch. The only disappointment is their soups, every time I look into the soup pots the soup looks very unappealing.
I will say my favorite thing is that the staff are all super friendly, of course I'm in there just about every day. I also like that they do the rewards points, it's nice to use to get a free drink or frozen entree, etc.
The store is always clean and organized and generally most things are...
Read moreUsed to have great prices and really nice produce section, great deli sandwiches... but prices are so high , produce always looks dry and not fresh, prices are crazy high, who would pay almost $6 for small container of blueberrys when you can get bigger container at anywhere else for $6. No thanks.. so tired of prices going sky high but quality isn't. But I will say, when you are after kinda unusual items for holiday, baking or a recipe when I can't find anywhere, Riviera foods usually has it. Update 1/2025 Shout out to amazing meat Dept. Within last year or so quality & freshness is really improved, if you want a speciality cut or whatever they really try to accommodate. Ask for Butch,...
