This is the best thing to happen in Lake County in years! My friends and I have been waiting and watching for the Arti Cafe to open and we are beyond delighted to have such a wonderful new restaurant in our neighborhood. Great food, honest prices, and a place to have lunch and dinner and/or order take out, 7 days a week.
Now, the food: we’ve eaten the Lamb Korma which is served in a delicate cashew curry sauce that melted in our mouths. We’ve also had the Chicken Korma which is a runner up for deliciousness. Someone who sat next to us at a table had ordered the Chicken Tandoori, which is marinated in fresh garlic, ginger, yogurt and mild spices which looked and smelled wonderful, so that’s next on our list. The rice and peas were perfect and went well with our dishes. The breads are heavenly; the Nan, and Onion Kulcha (one of my favorite Indian breads) we order with every dish. We’ve also ordered “Arti Special Nan” with a flavorful green pesto (which we will order again) and Papadum’s, which were perfect. The food is both organic and natural.
There is an excitement that comes with eating and seeing all of this fragrant and delicious food swarming around you, and you get caught up in what the people next to you are eating.
This is a family owned restaurant and the staff couldn't be nicer, but the place is usually packed, so depending what time you arrive, you may have to wait for a table, but as I said, the staff is great and will take your order while waiting so when a table becomes available your food is served hot and closely behind. Also, all orders are made fresh so you need to keep that in mind. The prices are so reasonable and they offer non-gluten breads and vegan dishes as well.
A big heartfelt thank-you for coming to...
Read moreWalking into this place had me overwhelmed with amazing smells! It was torture to sit and wait for my friends to arive but well worth the wait!
I ordered the Arti sampler to share with my friends, delicious, perfect for sharing.
For myself I ordered the chicken tandoori (pictured) and it came on a beautiful sizzling plate on a bed of onions. Amazing flavor, one of my friends ordered the cucumber yogurt dipping sauce and it paired perfectly with my chicken.
The friend that ordered the dipping sauce ordered the shrimp tandoori which also came on a sizzling plate, it was beautiful and came with way more shrimp then he expected, he let me try some and they were super tender, juicy and delicious.
My other friend ordered a sweet yellow curry, I wish I could remember the name of it but I wish I ordered some for myself! It came served in beautiful dishware too.
Amazing restaurant and good prices. I will definitely be coming again and recommending it to...
Read moreWe went and ate in the restaurant on September 26, a Tuesday. This is very small place with about 5 or 7 small tables on one side and the open kitchen on the other side. Cooking fumes filled the room. We had the vegetable Somosa, lamb Korma, Malai Kofta, garlic Naan, and white rise and a Mango Lassi. The garlic Naan was great. We also liked the Somosa. But the lamb Korma and the Malai Kofta were the most bland we ever had. The waitress did not ask us how spicy we would like it either. The rise was overcooked and not seasoned. During our stay, the phone blasted loudly several times and quite a few people came in to pick up their food. This is definitely more a place for take out. We would probably order again but this time take out and make sure we get not the...
