Where do I begin and how much space do I have? This adventure popped up on my facebook feed one morning. I had been looking for something unusual to do with my great grandchildren(4 and 7) and my grandson who were visiting me in a few weeks from the great (COLD) north. This looked like a possibility. I called my grandson, he gave it a thumbs up and boy are we all glad he did. Nate was awesome. He talked to both the kids like they were adults and addressed them by name each time he spoke to them. The thought put into this operation is clear from the beginning. We started with a safety lesson, which included individual vests and a radio. I was totally surprised at the ease of getting on the boat(that was one concern of mine due to some immobility) You could tell that was a consideration during the planning. A cooler was supplied, with water, and a safe place to place personal items. The boats are totally easy to operate with just a few short instructions. Then we were off to the experience of a lifetime. the weather was beautiful, the lake a little choppy. When we took off it didn't take long to get used to the controls and get up a little speed. We needed to follow Nate in his "little boat". The narration and trivia by Nate Via our own speaker during the trip was awesome BUT my favorite part was playing on one of the lakes. Those little boats can really move. We look forward to doing this again next year. My great granddaughter was a little bored (4 ) after an hour but loved it when we could go fast. When I shared my pictures with some friends all they wanted to know was where could they buy boats like that. I told them they couldn't, they would have to come to...
Read moreIf you’re ever in the general Orlando FL area, I urge you to check into Catboat Clermont, for a fun 2 hours on Lake Louisa and the adjoining Clermont chain of lakes. These 2 seat catamaran boats are great for exploring the channels connecting the lakes on a tour led by capable and informative guides. These tours have all boats connected with walkie talkies to the guide boat. And you undergo a short safety training session before embarking on your tour. This size boat is great for nautical novices who’d like to get their feet wet in the boating world. These tour groups follow the guide boats but there is a stop at one of the lakes where you can tear around to your hearts content in the, new for 2025, boats that can reach speeds of approximately 35 mph. Or if you prefer, you can leisurely explore the shoreline for 15 minutes. (We chose the former!) Our guides were very professional but friendly. The whole process was well run and we had no worries as far as not being in capable hands. Nice restrooms are available dockside and a couple of bottles of water are provided for your excursion. There is also a bar and there was a foodtruck dockside too! Just be prepared for the Florida sunshine. Have fun! P. S. They can do tours in cooler weather as the catboats have heated seats and they have...
Read moreToday we had a 12pm - 2pm tour booked. This time of the year weather is a concern. Days before our scheduled tour we kept in contact with Catboat tours to keep informed if our tour was going canceled, and what is the procedure when canceling the tour. We appreciated the employees of Catboat tours, and their communication. The scheduled tour was still on schedule. When we arrived at 11:00 am and checked in with Dale. Dale informed us we could leave earlier than scheduled if the remaing reservations arrived early. Because of predicted rain leaving early was fine. We left the dock at approximately 11:45 am. By 12:55 pm the tour was called because what appeared to be rainstorm on the other side of the lake which at that time Dale made the decision to end the tour. We understand the concern for our safety, but to only have 70 minutes when we paid for 2 hours. Referring to the Catboat Tours of Clermont website there is nothing mentioned about how the customer can seek relief if the tour is shorten. It could be assumed if folks began their tour, and 20 minutes after the start of the tour, the tour was canceled customers would take the lose of the time...
