Considering the obvious lack of resource/funding, it is very clear that the personnel try to do everything they can to have these animals in a healthy environment and help them find a "fur-ever" home. However, it isn't without its issues. First and foremost, the most jarring issue I have with this shelter is the fact any animal, once ready for adoption, can be adopted by the first person to show up. That's right-- first come, first served. This is a problem in my experience because this is not the best way to ensure an animal goes to the correct home. While it is true that animals undergo all of the basic procedures required for adoption, not just ANY person can own any particular kind of breed of animal. Every single animal has a unique situation to them and while the prospect owner may be happy they get to walk away with the animal they wanted, the animal may end up stuck with someone who isn't fit for taking care of said animal. Ignorance is the number one problem when it comes to ownership of a pet. A first come, first serve system is counter-intuitive to everything an animal shelter is supposed to represent.
All of that aside, you can make a difference by adopting animals from here. Or working as a volunteer or with one of the many volunteer groups. More importantly, you can object the notion of a first come, first served system and help ensure animals find the correct homes for them. After all, a person being first and with 50$ at hand should not be all that is expected to properly care...
Read moreI am given no other choice but to come on here and share my current experience with some wild dogs. There has been several attacks from the same dogs that are located at 885 8th St NE Cleveland Tennessee. You can clearly see the disarray on that property and it is a problem for peoples safety at this point. They have attacked not only neighborhood animals but also people. It is only a matter of time before something really bad happens. I have tried to reach out to animal control and the police and as far as I am aware, the guy just ties the dogs up for a couple of days after an attack. Kim Pew was one of the people that was attacked recently walking buy and the dog literally ripped off pieces of white meat skin. The sheriff office and the city refuse to do anything about these rabid dogs. I hope this message reaches somebody who cares to help. My...
Read moreDO NOT TAKE ANY ANIMALS HERE!!!! I know that their facebook page looks all pretty and everything but the people that work here DO NOT care about these animals at all! They also do not care about you or whatever reasoning you may have to be needing to surrender an animal to them and will find ANY REASON not to help you or give you addtional resources! They also secretly EUTHANIZE the poor animals that THEY don't deem deserving of a second chance. They find any reason and/or excuse to euthanize animals and this should be investigated. I know from personal stories I have been told and seriously people do your selves the favor to try finding a new home for your pets elsewhere. Let this place be shut down or bring in new management that actually care about the well being of the animals they are...
