I want to say that great hobby shops are no longer around in every town...I'm glad to say this isn't the case with Depot Trains. I'm from Columbus, but when I go to Cleveland, I appreciate the personal service and advice I get. I model both plastic models and trains. I love the fact that when I pick something up, I get a human that says "you know what, that kit goes together almost flawlessly, but here's what to be cautious with", or when it comes to trains, "This item, for the price, is an outstanding value that will last you XYZ". I think we yearn for this type of advice in everywhere we walk into, but this place delivers. I also like the fact that you see the same 2 or 3 folks working there and they know what they're talking about.

Read moreMy young son and I have personally visited this gem of a hobby shop numerous times, travelling all the way up Canton OH. It was our "family time" together and well worth the trip. It is definitely one of my favorites, since there are very few shops like this around any more. Their entire lower level is dedicated to model railroading in numerous scales. We always walked out with something special or unique in the HO scale - including a HO digital motorized turntable. Dean is courteous, knowledgeable, and engaging and it is quite evident he is passionate about his hobbies. Read moreI went to see their model train supply. I was visiting from out of town. The old house it's in needs repair and is not inviting. At first glance it looks out of business. They have an unexpectedly larger supply than the exterior suggests. Trains are in the basement. HO, N, O, G scales available. Some detail parts, scenery, paint, glue, etc. Available. Friendly staff. Other hobbies present. See their website. They offered to order anything I didn't see. Prices higher than I expected. Could not compare to other shops in area. At least they were stocked....
