BOUGHT AND PAID FOR EXPERIENCE
V & C USED APPLIANCES
I purchase a used 30inch Whirlpool slide inn stove from this establishment with high hopes of satisfying a need to replace an old unit without breaking my budget for a rental property. Marshall Moody, Owner and I agreed on delivery of stove, installation of unit by connecting gas unit and removal old unit for Saturday, July 10, 2021. Upon delivery, Mr. Moody required assistance with delivery as he was alone. My tenant at property, (gentleman), assisted and it was discovered that the opening from the existing unit was too narrow based on the lip overhang on top of stove. Mr. Moody suggested the unit be picked up and placed in opening which would also require some type of either wood pallet, plywood, or bricking to bridge the gap between base of stove and floor to sustain the weight and assure stove balance. At this point of discovery, a call should have been made to me. It wasnāt.
At point of purchase, Mr. Moody was adamant that he takes no responsibility for āmissedā measurementsā, and all sales are final. However, you could exchange for another unit, no problem. Measurements from old unit were based on ā30ā inches, however, unit was flanked between fixed cabinet units on both sides. Consequently, something was off with measurements. I take responsibility for this and would have sent unit back to obtain another unit. Mr. Moody was adamant that he sends pictures of completed installation. That didnāt happen either. Mr. Moody charged for installation down to and additional $25 for adjustment of āfeetā for balancing of stove if necessary. The unit was connected to gas supply, and left pulled away from wall for tenant to figure out the rest. I was floored. Iāve never had such an experience with the delivery of an appliance. My husband with the assistance of the tenant and a good neighbor discovered that the unit could be adjusted from underneath to the necessary height to slide in. Erika, right, āwrongā. There were no āfeetā on this unit. There was of course, the opening to receive feet. Luckily, my husband was able to remove the feet from the old unit and the good neighbor screwed them onto this unit while my husband tilted and balanced stove. This provided the necessary height to slide unit in, ALMOST! Due to the cabinetry on both sides, There is about a 2-3 inch difference from rear preventing unit from sliding completely in.
I started this quest with high hopes of attempting to replace the space with the same type of appliance and do business with a small business owner. These units go into the thousands new. I should have just waited and purchased from a store that would have completed the process efficiently. Lastly, to make matters more interesting, the 90 day warranty requires a written review to be placed on Google within 24 hrs. of delivery. Iāll not have opportunity to speak with Mr. Moody until Tuesday, July 13, 2021 as he is closed on Sunday and Monday. If not completed, in his own words, āDONāT CALL MEā. Iāll admit, I was impatient in looking, and have have āBOUGHT AND PAID FOR...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy family and I paid $650 for a matching stove and refrigerator; Upon just moving into our new place we needed a stove and a fridge in a hurry as we do have kids- Marshall did discount put stove by $25 dollars. I was advised there is a 30 day warranty on my stove and a 90 day warranty on my refrigerator. Paid for merchandise on Friday 06/07/2019 & was advised set would be delivered between 10:30AM-6:30PM on Saturday 06/08/2019 as they only deliver on Saturdays. Did not receive merchandise until 8:30PM 06/08/2019. There was no phone call during the entire day letting me know there was any issues or where my merchandise was. I attempted to call and text the number listed on the business card and did not receive a response. Once the delivery men installed stove and fridge, it was discovered the stove top and the broiler worked but not the oven. Delivery men advised Marshall, the owner, would be out the following Monday or Tuesday to fix the oven. On 06/11 before Marshall reached my residence to fix the oven, it was discovered that the refrigerator door was making a clicking noise. On 06/11 Marshall came to my residence to service the oven, upon servicing- the part they initially thought was the issue turned out to be a different problem. Marshall advised he would order part and it could take a couple days for part to come in and for him to come back out and repair oven. Advised Marshall of refrigerator door noise on this day. Marshall agree to look at the fridge door. The morning of 06/18/2019, my refrigerator door fell off, and I still did not have my oven fixed. I texted The number listed on the business card advising I would need my fridge door serviced and also checked in on the reparations to my stove. Marshall advised my fridge was broken from āware and tareā (wear and tear*) and the warranty did not cover this and felt I was being disrespectful- he advised me to take this Issue up with the court system. Marshall texted me on 06/21/2019 and advised me the part for my oven was in and due to the last issue with the oven he would be out to service my over on 06/22/2019. Marshall advised he would not place a timeframe on this servicing given that he was doing this out of courtesy- not because I was advised there was a warranty on both items I purchased. It is 10:30PM on 06/22/2019 and I have not received a call, a text message, or...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI wish I could write a review for part 1 and 2 of my interaction w/the owner, but I'll settle for an average score of 2 Stars. Purchase was seamless as well as delivery and the washing machine was in good condition. I was replacing the identical used washer until my laundry room and new set would be ready- a renovation planned for Spr '25.
The 1st test load (started by the owner) had no clothes or detergent and ran ok. When I tried to run a load 2 days later, I got a partial fill and no agitation. I consulted Youtube (the owner gave me those instructions when he delivered it) and it was suggested that recalibration was the problem. One video said to open the control panel. I was afraid that would nullify my warranty (90 days) so I called and messaged the owner instead. He reminded me he had told me to look at Youtube- I reminded him it was the same machine I had had for almost 10 years, and that the video was telling me to "mess w/the control panel". He stated, "If I come and there's nothing wrong, I'll charge you a fee." Later he messaged, "I can come out day after tomorrow." Unfortunately, a quilted bedspread sitting in water for two days ;-( was unacceptable. I asked my son to check it out and he was able to run a couple of loads day before yesterday. I messaged the owner that my son fixed it for no charge. His response, "There was no problem with the washer." My reply was, "Partially wet clothes in a nonworking washer was a problem."
Today, it is not working again. So, my son did a partial fix. Something is obviously wrong w/the washer. It's unfortunate that after all of the glowing reviews, he has chosen to presume I'm unable to work a washer and/or unwilling to honor the warranty that is paid for with...
