To the phenomenal team at Macomb County Animal Control ā thank you from the bottom of my heart.
You didnāt just help me adopt a dog. You gave me the gift of family.
When I met Mr. Percy Tyrone Von Woofington III, I knew he was special ā but I also knew he had a journey behind him. Percy came to me as a surrendered pup recovering from a broken femur, and I expected there would be challenges. What I didnāt expect was to have a full, loving team of people standing behind us every step of the way.
From day one, the Macomb County Animal Control team made the entire process easy, transparent, and full of heart. They allowed me time to bond with Percy. They coordinated a beautiful meeting with his foster family. They explained everything with clarity, warmth, and joy. And when I officially adopted him, they sent us off with a full gift bag like he was royalty ā and honestly, to me, he is.
Hereās what blew me away:
They covered all of Percyās medical expenses, including the cost of his broken femur surgery.
Even after I brought him home, they continued covering his care ā paying for two follow-up appointments to ensure he was healing properly.
They work in close partnership with Wilson Veterinary Clinic (who I also highly recommend), and together they made sure Percy was not just okay ā he was 100% healthy and thriving.
The staff at Macomb Animal Control even called me multiple times to check in. They wanted to know how he was adjusting, how his leg was healing, and how I was doing. That kind of care is rare.
And when Percy, being the sneaky little Border Terrier escape artist that he is, slipped out of the yard on his very first day home, I was panicked. But Macomb called, stayed in touch, and reassured me until he was safely back. No judgment. No panic. Just calm, steady support.
Through this entire experience, I didnāt just adopt a dog. I gained a village. And that village ā rooted inside the Sheriffās Department ā gave me something I will always cherish: love, guidance, and a foundation for a life-changing connection.
Because of a team of people who came together with heart and dedication, Percy is about to lead an extraordinary life. Heās going to see places, meet people, and experience adventures around the world. And it all started right here in Macomb County, with the kindness and commitment of the people who stood by him when he needed it most.
So again ā thank you. From me, from Percy, and from the beautiful story we now get to live.
And stay tuned⦠āThe Adventures of Mr. Percy Tyrone Von Woofington III and his fabulous friend Divaā is coming soon!
This story will soon come to life in a childrenās animated book and series, currently in development. Iād also like to thank my creative agency, our talented animators, and the fast-moving pitch team behind the scenes who are helping us bring Percyās magic to the screen. This project is full of heart, healing, and imagination ā and we can't wait to share it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI found a stray and brought her here to see if she had a microchip and they took her from me without saying anything. They didn't tell me that they had to take her from me, they just said "You're all set" and left me completely confused as to why they just took this dog away from me while I was still going around trying to find her family. Once they explained, I understood that they had to put her on a stray hold for legal reasons. I went back a couple of days later and they wouldn't let me see her until the hold was up, which is again, understandable. I went back again when the hold was up and they told me that I had to wait until she went through evaluation. Okay... fine then. So I called back periodically to find out what the adoption fee would be and when I could pick her up, and the last time I called, they told me they sent her away to a rescue! They wouldn't tell me which rescue they sent her to, and I've contacted multiple ones in the area to try and find her but I can't seem to track her down. I can't believe they not only took this dog from me without saying a word, but kept her, and wouldn't even let me see her or adopt her when she was ready! Now she's off god knows where and anything could happen to her. I was ready to pick her up and give her a good home at a moment's notice, but now I will probably never know what happened to the dog that I rescued. I will never, ever take a stray here again. If you find a stray, take them to a vet to check for a chip!! And post them to the "For the Love of Louie" facebook page because that is all that the Animal Control does to find the family to begin with and anyone can do it.
This story aside, I have been to this location a few times to look at their animals. It is clean and well kept. The officer who is there has always been very friendly and kind, and he was gentle with the dog that I brought there. The staff is hit or miss, some of them are AMAZING and sweet people, but I got a couple who were rude and just seemed irritated that I was there at all. Overall it is a great place to adopt an animal from, but don't expect five star service and I wouldn't take a stray here unless you're prepared to never...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI would give less than 0 stars if I could! Horrible service. Appalled by their disrespect and lack of action. Was bitten by a neighbor's dog within my own garage and animal control said they would take care of it. Dogs are a complete nuisance and a danger to the community. Constantly barking at all hours of the night and day. We have delivered between 300 and 400 videos currently of the dogs getting out, chasing people, biting the owners, abuse by the owners, and more. I have called to check on the progress of their supposed action only to be hung up on repeatedly by their officers. We have very young kids who live on the street and play outside who I am afraid for their saftey. Luckily I'm grown and have been in worse conditions, but to imagine being bitten as a young boy or girl; especially when it could have been avoided by proper action on the city's behalf is not only heartbreaking but could cause a lifetime of distress from it. All they say is that they are handling it with no action, and won't specify their supposed action. The bite happened over 4 months ago and still the dangerous dogs are getting out and barking at all hours. I was chased by them just last week while biking past the house because the owner's never leash them. It's crazy to think with over 300 videos of recordings of these happenings that nothing has been handled. Any legal case with such an amount of evidence would be unquestioned in any other case. The officers of the mt. Clemens animal control should not only feel ashamed for their lack of action and allowance of keeping our homes and street in an environment that is threatened by these animals, but should be removed from office because of obvious lack of duty paid for by the cities tax dollars. As I write this review I've been woken up at 5 530 and now again at 6 because of the incessant barking.
I wish I could get paid to do nothing as the mt. Clemens animal control obviously does.
4 months!!! 4 months and no action. This is...
