Nu Luxe Salon — Local services in Cloquet

Hired Nu Luxe for my Duluth wedding. The owner was very friendly and responded quickly to emails. The price for hair and make-up was right, but ultimately decided not to use them for make-up after the trials. Yes, two trials. I didn't love having to drive from the Twin Cities for two trials. The initial make-up trial was horrendous and they were made aware of this. Second trial was better and would probably be fine for most people. I am just very particular. Which I tried to make very clear before booking them for my wedding. I am very good at doing a lot of updo's with my own hair and wasn't overly impressed with the wedding hair that we all ended up with. One Stylist in particular used way too many bobby pins. For example, my sister's hair, MOH, she did not come up with anything close to the inspiration photo and you could see all of the bobby pins- which were sent in advance via Pinterest to the salon. I tried to fix it myself and removed many unnecessary bobby pins. I watched the progression of the style from start to finish and have no clue how it ended where it did. It started cute and then was a mess of hair that made no sense. She did like the way the front looked, though. There were a couple of girls that this happened to, but no time to fix. They were on time arriving, but ran late on my timeline. I had tried to keep the salon updated on changes to my timeline as soon as I found out about them, when we hired a day of coordinator. My mom's hair was fab, my hair was pretty good and a couple other bridesmaid's looked decent. From the front and in the photos, the hair looks fine. From the back or up close, not as much. Would only recommend specific Stylists for a wedding. Alyssa did a great job cutting my husband's hair...

I got my eyelash extensions done here for about 2-3 months now. The first few times was because I wanted to try a new place but also because the lash place I used to go to for almost 6 months did not apply the extensions correctly. When they grew out, they were clumpy and my lashes were pulled which was uncomfortable.

Nu lux did an excellent job fixing the mistake of another lash technician and seemed very knowledgeable about how to apply them and take care of them. After trying out a few different technicians I found that I like Jess the best! She is very gentle and really explained all of my options of lengths, thickness, and styles I could pick from!

Nu Lux also has many lash technitions that were trained professionally by Lavish Lash, I believe? So you don’t have to worry about the girls not being trained properly. I never had any lashes stick together, pulled, or any damage to them. You’ll almost always be able to get the appointment you want since they have so many girls available.

The only reason this is a 4 Star instead of 5 is because my during my first few appointments, I got to the salon around 10 minutes before my fill and was waiting for 30-40 minutes after my scheduled time. And it did take me a few weeks to find someone that I really liked to do my extensions. That always just stayed in my mind!

Even though that happened I would still absolutely recommend Nu Lux salon for eyelash...
