If you purchase a "rustic" furniture piece, beware, as this gives them the freedom to sacrifice quite a bit on quality, in my opinion.
In February of this year we took delivery of a 42x72 Rustic Walnut Modern Mission Plank Top Table with 2 inserts and six chairs. By far the most expensive thing I've ever purchased besides a house and a car. As a result I had high expectations for the finished product.
Initially when it was first ready for pickup in January there was a big gouge in one of the planks. We expressed our concern and they were willing to fill the gouge with filler which took another couple weeks. If that was the end of the issues, then that'd be the end of the story.
However, over the next several months I continued to observe imperfections in the table. As a result, I am quite disappointed in the craftsmanship. There are two issues that are unacceptable and two issues which are more “forgivable".
More forgivable is the fact that 1) when there is an insert installed, the table does not close tightly (see picture). I can mitigate this with a bungy cord. 2) The inserts are noticeably thicker than the rest of the table top. Both of these I can overlook, but again when speaking to the craftsmanship, I would consider them defects.
When I called to inquire on all these items, the excuse given were all tied to it being a "rustic" version of the table. Meaning they need to take liberties to build the table given the variation in the quality of the wood being used. If that would be your expectation, then you'd probably be satisfied with your furniture. My expectation was that rustic meant that the table top would have texture and variation with the grooves and knots, but that the rest of the table would be of high quality craftsmanship.
I give it 2 versus a 1, because to the casual observer, it visually looks nice. But after spending as much as we did in a retail market where there are many less expensive options, it seems like the cost versus quality is...
Read moreI thought I’d be able to find dining side chairs I liked pretty easily from an online retailer to go with my live edge black walnut table but I was very wrong. After searches in some of the bigger online company websites I knew I had to expand my search to higher quality products and stumbled on to Amish Showroom and spent some time looking at every chair they had in their catalogue and there were a lot of beautiful chairs to select from. It wasn’t an easy choice, but I eventually settled on the Tifton chairs with no arms, live edge top, and finished using the ocs110 stain. Since the species of walnut is slightly different and different products were used to finish I was expecting a slight deviation between them but the color match looks perfect which blew my expectations out of the water. The quality of the chairs is what you would expect from a custom made product. I absolutely love them.
Amish Showroom was very easy to deal with when I called to place the order. They told me it would be a 22 week lead time, which was expected. They sent me 2 samples of the walnut with different finishes so I could compare to my table before I committed. A couple weeks after the order the samples arrived and I let them my choice the next day.
Delivery came a couple weeks earlier than the 22 weeks, which was great because I was really expecting it to take longer with all the delays and diminished supplies worldwide due to COVID. So I was ecstatic when I was contacted and said they’d be delivered the following week. The delivery company was great as well. They called me the day before and said they were running ahead of schedule and could be at my house in a couple hours. They arrived when they said they would and helped run the chairs upstairs to get them out of the rain asap.
From start to finish the process went as smooth as possible. The chairs are perfect and glad I took the time to search and found Amish Showroom. I highly recommend them and...
Read moreI initially went to the store for a casual look around and to maybe find a computer desk. I was impressed with the quality of the furniture. After meeting Carrie, I was guided to the back room where I saw a long computer desk just like I was looking for. I also saw the perfect chair to go with it. To make a long story short I had just removed a pool table from my living room and needed other pieces also. So the next day I return to the store and Carrie guided me through the catalog and the show floor and I purchased a matchingTV stand and end table. Carrie‘s product knowledge made it very easy To be happy with and confident in my purchases. I returned home day two and realized a small kitchen table with two chairs would be nice to have. Day three I return to the store and purchased the 36 inch round kitchen table and two chairs, while the other pieces were in stock the kitchen table and chairs needed to be ordered. They’ll be here in May.
Patiently waiting, Larry
