T.J. Maxx — Local services in Coeur d'Alene

The other day I was shopping in TJ Maxx with my two little boys (5 and 2). My littlest was carrying around a tiny fox that my older son has had since he was a baby. Well we didn’t realize that he had dropped it somewhere in the store at some point until we had checked out and gotten to the car. I loaded up our stuff and took the kids back inside to find the fox. We retraced our steps and asked a couple people if they’d seen it but no luck. My kids were very sad, especially the older one holding back his tears. We asked customer service one last time before leaving and they said they would check. The girls then proceeded to put out a search crew and did not give up til they found the fox. One girl finally came around the corner like an absolute boss with the fox, my son got the biggest smile on his face and burst into happy tears. Great prices. This one is much better organised than most I've visited. Although, the employees all seem miserable. A few of the girls were complaining about management, one older gal made it clear she was having a bad day, even the sweet girl that checked me out seemed a bit stressed that they were short handed. I was there for almost 2 hours rummaging around for deals and whatnot, no one ever asked if I needed help or if I had any questions. Is customer service not a thing anymore? This isn't always my experience, I'm hoping it was just an off day. On a brighter note, I came home with a dress for me, shoes for my daughter, a few seasonings and a picture frame for just over $30. Had to pop in here for a quick shopping trip on Saturday and the whole staff, management included, was cheerful and ready to help but one super great employee really stood out above them all... thank you Emma B. for being such a sweet gal! She greeted us enthusiastically at the door and was personable and made us feel welcome. She was so genuine and sincere and really just a breath of fresh air! I hope she is truly recognized and appreciated for the asset she is, especially when customer service in times like these can be exceptionally challenging.
