If you're looking for a super intense group workout, without the froufrou or price tag of crossfit, give 11 a try. These workouts are real, and they're empowering. The community is so kind and encouraging. Any and all fitness levels are accommodated by the expert trainers who will customize the group workouts for you, if you have areas of weakness (bad back, injured knee, etc.). If you're wanting to try one of the classes for free, but aren't sure which one to jump in on, here's my experience with each class:
Core + Conditioning/Remix: Best for beginners, lots of bodyweight and HIIT exercises (Ben's class is definitely my favorite). Get ready to sweat.
Staple/Strength: Great for people who lift, or want to get into lifting. You learn how to use all the equipment, you focus on different areas of the body each class, and you watch yourself get stronger and stronger after every class. The workout usually starts with a lift (squat, bench press, etc.) and then moves on to cardio exercises.
Spin: Kicks your ass, dude. If you've never tried spinning, you should. I've never sweat so much sitting in one position for an hour.
I'm a younger woman who was legitimately terrified of the lift rig when I first visited. I had NO idea what I was doing, and could barely lift the bar. Now, a year later, I'm ACTUALLY keeping up with the strongest guys in my classes. The amount of progress I've made and strength I've gained is incredible. I surprise myself every time I walk into the gym.
My favorite aspect - accountability. You feel guilty skipping your last rep because the chick next to you is kicking butt, and you feel excited to go to a 6 AM class because your favorite lifting partner is always there at 6 AM. This facility is in, what seems to be, an old warehouse. I get the feel that this facility is designed to train athletes. Plenty of open space and lots of free weights.
This is not a super fancy facility with a polished feel and bells and whistles of a corporate facility, but this feels more like a place to get things done.
The staff is nice and the gym has some engaging activities and several included classes. They like to have special events as well. It feels welcoming and a little close knit which is pleasant. I don't feel like I am a number.
I have been a member of this gym since September of 2021. The main reason I joined this gym is to get access to Johnny, one of the personal trainers.
I have serious knee issues and had most of my muscles in my leg had atrophied from lack of use and I needed to find somebody with the best understanding of the body as possible. Having a masters in Kinesiology (the study of how the human body moves) gave me the confidence he was the person to help me.
Through working with Johnny, we have built up my muscles in my leg. Where once I had to lift my leg into my car with my hands, I am now able to squat, lunge, and over all use my leg again. I can say joining was one of the best decisions I have made, in terms of my physical and mental health. I have battled injuries over the past 5 years. I needed to find a gym with trainers who could help me work through those, ensure I am performing exercises properly, and ultimately help me improve my strength and stamina.
