Comstock Community Center — Local services in Comstock Charter Township

My family lost our home due to the tornado back in May. Complete loss. We have spent the last 6 months getting our lives back to normal. I reached out for holiday gift assistance through the program they do so hopefully my kids could have a better Christmas than we can provide. Once I was on a call with Diana she told me my husband and I make too much money. We are RIGHT on the line of the cut off. That’s when I told her about the tornado situation and she said we may still get help because of the circumstances. She proceeded to ask questions very abruptly and sounded like I wasting time out of her day. Very quick responses filled with “okay?.. and?” Then she tells me I won’t hear from her again until December so when I change phone numbers I need to call them first since I need the help. I ended up sending an email to Diana about throwing our application away because I felt very judged to even reach out. My family has had a DEVASTATING year. The only reason I'm going to give 3 stars is because of how friendly everyone is EXCEPT FOR THE FOOD BANK LADY IN CHARGE IS VERY RACIST. I brought my step kids with me every time I came to get food in the summer time and because I'm helping out their mother right now they are not registered to my area for school .. she asked to see proof of school registration and made me bring my fiance ID while her White friends show up and don't get asked for proof of anything in front of everyone she lets them get extra food and everything they want, and with a smile. I think she's very rude when I come in she PERSONALLY looks at my sign in in front of everyone but don't check nobody else paperwork. It's very embarrassing and none welcoming. I hate seeing her face whenever I come therefore because she judges and jumps all over BLACK PEOPLE back without even a smile or greeting. Her body language is horrible and she is a real racist.. she should not be working...
