Diablo creek G.C. is one of the premier 18 hole courses in the contra costa county. The driving range has 2 things that put it above all the others I frequent, ie Boundry Oaks, Franklin Canyon, Lone Tree, etc. It is the only range with lights. As such its open when all others are done for the day.
It is one of the few ranges that is flat, thereby giving you accurate yardage. It's fun to think you've got a 270 yard drive (most guys have that at Montclair or Tilden, being 30 feet in the air and hitting down a steep decline really helps) but I prefer a flat range that simulates a course.
The clubhouse Legends, is a good little sports bar and grill. They sell draft beers up to 32 oz. The food is better than decent enough that the wife occasionally request it as a dinner date. The patio area ideally looks out over the driving range.
The course itself is always well maintained. I have never seen it in an unattended state. I played a quick front 9 the week after Diablo Creek (the stream the golf course is named after) jumped it's bank and flooded the about half the terrain. I don't know if it was quick attention from the staff or natural drainage, but the place looked good 10 days to 2 weeks later. By comparison Las Positas G.C. 6 weeks when it's creek jumped the bank during the same storms.
Diablo creek has more water hazards than any of the other courses in the area.
It is thecflattest course in I can think of. I know the new trend is add elevation, but it's cool to see an old style links design.
One bad point about DCGC. This place is booked every weekend. If you want to play a Saturday or Sunday, book it Monday.
I hope my review inspires some to...

My husband says this is the nicest course in Concord, but I'll have to take his word since I've only been to their driving range. We went on Monday night to hit some balls and bought a large bucket ($8.00). We purchased this in the pro-shop and then received a code to enter into the ball machine which is right outside.
I say that "we" hit some balls, but it was mostly Casey hitting. Don't get me wrong: I TRIED to hit the balls, but it was only my second time holding a golf club, and the balls are just sooo small. But I tried. One attempt took me six swings to hit the ball. The guy hitting behind us was actually laughing. But I wasn't. I was trying my hardest. Why oh why did they have to have such a nicely lit driving range? You can see everyone else swinging at night, and they could all see me - and they have a lot of spots.
We hit most of the bucket and left the rest of the balls for the taking. I wondered what it would be like to try putting. They have a practice putting green also but it is not lit at night so we didn't get to try that. Probably for the...
Read moreTee'd off right around our starting time of 12:16pm and finished in four hours thirty-five minutes with multiple five-somes in front of our group. The first backup happened at hole four but things picked up again until hole number ten. From there, we waited a little bit on each tee the entire back nine but nothing horrible for a Friday afternoon. Course was in average to good shape for this time of year. Greens were mostly smooth but you could see footprints. Average muni speed for flat and uphill putts but sneaky fast on some downhill puts. Tee boxes in great shape and most fairways in great shape. If you go wayward into the rough or treeline, expect some rough lies. Not much has been done at this course pre-COVID compared to now. Tee times are still eight minutes apart, ball washers and drinking fountains are covered up. On course bathrooms are still open. We had the drink cart come around a few times during our round. Other golfers were respectful of everyone's personal space and masks really weren't needed except for check-in as it was easy to keep ten or more feet apart...
