I’ve had three unreviewed transactions because who the hell remembers all their passwords, or wants to take the time to find them or get new ones, but since I did.... The first order was a design your own sword, and aside from the cosmetics of mass-produced items, I was completely pleased with the result. The fit was tight and the general appearance was more than acceptable. I had it sharpened and almost immediately proceeded to cut myself. Hung it on a display board with no intention of ever taking it down (any assaults on the castle will be met with gunfire), and I am totally satisfied. Delivery was delayed by the desired grip being out of stock, but once that was rectified, the sword arrived promptly. The second transaction was a universal sword hanger, which I wish I’d known about when I was creating the previously mentioned display board (consequently, the hanger is thus far unused but appears simple and well designed), a can of rust blocker, which is more difficult to use than it should be, while Remington gun oil seems to work just as well and is easy to use, and a crusader flag, which I turned out to love much more than I expected. If there was a Great Satan flag, I’d buy that as well, Stand tall and proudly show the colors! Then send in the B-2s and turn the uranium enrichment facilities into dry lake beds. This order arrived promptly (maybe four business days) with no delays. The last order was a seax. Waited a year for it to come on sale and pounced when it did. Had it sharpened and although the fit is tight, I don’t envision ever using it. Nonetheless, it was purchased strictly for display and looks great. Purchase of both sword and seax were greatly influenced by my acquaintance with Bernard Cornwell’s “Saxon Stories” and the associated “Last Kingdom” TV series. Only regret is that they drip testosterone and leave a stain on the carpet. Regardless, once a minor problem was settled by the extremely courteous, polite, and competent staff at Museum Replicas, the seax was delivered promptly. In conclusion, all transactions have been completely satisfactory, and the merchandise involved is pleasing to possess. If I have a complaint, it’s that the shipping and handling charge seems on the high side in comparison to that of...
Read moreI saw MR's first catalogue when I was stationed in BERLIN during my stint in the Army, and have been buying ever since. They've changed a bit over the years - the main improvement is the inclusion of good sword scabbards with a purchase, whereas 35 years ago the things cost $45 separately! Most blades are very good, but I've had a couple asymmetrical or irregular blades. Note that some clothing, and especially ARMOR, tends to run small - I don't know if they have Indians trying them on or what. Helmets are almost always too small if you have a fair-sized noggin. PLUSES: a wide variety of choices and genres. Branching out from pure historical items to fantasy, steampunk & some sci-fi. SHARPENING - always select sharpening. They do an awesome job, well worth the cost. DOWN: The above has also led to them straying a bit from the True Path, and offering what I call "fireplace swords" or items that are purely decorative. I feel that MR should make a clear distinction between types, perhaps posting "decorative" and/or "functional" icons by the item so people can get what they're looking for. Fine if you offer a Conan sword, but if I pay $395 and it shows up with a rat-tail tang I'm gonna be ticked. So, clear labeling would be my #1 suggestion. OH!! Thanks for bringing back the Daily Deal. It makes me look......
Read moreI have been a lifelong sword collector going back into the '80's. I have ordered catalogs and still have them from the early '80's into the '90's. I have ordered many swords from them and All the swords I have received were excellent. I have many of the older Del Tin and Windlass model swords and daggers and you can feel the history in each piece. This company has went through many changes through the years, but one thing remains consistent... Their Customer service!!! One time I had an order that was shipped through no fault of myself nor MRL, but the Post office. Museum Replicas Limited re-shipped my order, free of cost. Which meant alot to me. I was honest, and told them should I ever receive that parcel that I would pay for it, or return it unopened... I never received the package per say.
Museum Replicas Limited as a sword collector has a warm place in my heart. As a kid their catalog WAS My Sears toy catalog, hehehe...
