Due to it's outlying location, this DG on Hwy 70 can have long lines at times. It has a wide variety of products from typical DG home items to hardware and automotive. They even had a small Arts&Crafts section that would make you think of Hobby Lobby. There's a downside to having a broader spectrum of products...the store isn't any larger than average and that causes the isles to be more narrow. Two people couldn't pass each other in an isle without an akward "excuse me" interaction. DG had this store built to their specifications but I don't think the floor plan had enough impact on the overall design and the "usable" square footage. To sum it up.... -1star 🌟 for the long lines and checkout time. (Cashier was wonderful) -1star 🌟 for the very narrow isles where one person can completely block access to it. (*Example pic attached) Other than that it was a great place to shop. * Not taken by me. Downloaded from the internet.

This is a pretty great Dollar General just outside of Cookeville. The place is mostly clean with a bit of clutter here and there making some of the aisles a little hard to traverse with a buggy. There was also an alarm going off through my entire visit. It was very annoying. The staff were very nice, though.

If I could give this zero stars I would. I wasn’t going to write this review, but after having two bad experiences with the same employee, I am so fed and she definitely needs to be fired! I used to enjoy my trips to this location, especially because I live in the townhomes right behind so it is very convenient. Also, I can walk there with my kids and they love going, because it is small enough they can navigate around the store with no problem. They are younger, so yes often times they can be a little rowdy, but I try to keep them in control. Anyways, we are regular customers and I know I’ve had other interactions with Tracy. I even remember a conversation with her about the renovations the store was undergoing. Nothing major, they were just rearranging and getting new merch. Well it had been over a week since we had gone & I finally went this past Sunday night. As soon as I walk in I noticed the upgrades and make a comment. I know Tracy was in earshot and heard me make that comment. I was also talking to my kids (in English) & I’m sure she heard that as well. Fast forward to my kids going up and down the isles picking out toys and leaving them on the floor, I’m going after them picking everything up & pretty much the entire time Tracy is keeping an eye on us so I know she also saw me picking up after my kids. I can understand trying to maintain the store since the upgrades, so I was picking up after them because the store does look a lot better. (Even though I would pick up after them regardless of store appearance). Well this lady Tracy had the nerve to go up to a random customer. Not only did she profile me but also this customer in assuming he spoke English. This customer looked a lot more Hispanic than me, not to mention my kids are white because their dad is white, but she asks this random customer to go up to me and tell me to pick up after my kids and I overhead her tell him “& I don’t even think she speaks English.” So he tells me what she says in Spanish. I was so outraged! She clearly saw me picking up after them so what was the point of having someone tell me in Spanish. And even if I didn’t speak English she could’ve tried to have a conversation with me first before finding a stranger to do her dirty work! & I’m sure she knows me because we are regulars & my kids are kinda hard to forget! I was never gonna set foot there again. But it is just so convenient since it’s right up the street. I decided to go there tonight. My kids as usual were rowdy, actually a little more than usual & were not listening so I was trying to get out of there as soon as possible. I did notice that Tracy was not there so that put me at ease only to later have another uncomfortable encounter with her. I was trying to check out & I don’t know if it’s because of the upgrades, but my card wasn’t working. I’ve never had an issue before but it just wasn’t working. I was at the self checkout & the cashier was checking people out so I didn’t want to bother her. Then here comes Tracy, waiting in line to check out. She looked very annoyed that she had to wait on me (even though there was another self checkout right behind her not in use). Well then she points to me at makes some hand gestures to the cashier like if I’m stupid or something. Yes I did need help, I didn’t want to ask because she was busy and I’ve never had an issue with my card before. But even the cashier chick treated me like I was stupid telling me I wasn’t inserting my card correctly. Well the card I was using doesn’t have a chip reader so I told her that & it turns out I had to swipe it backwards which I’ve never had to do before. It was clearly their new system and had nothing to do with how I was swiping. Point is, Tracy does not have a decent bone in her body and should not be allowed to work in customer service. Also whoever the cashier that was working tonight needs some additional training on how to treat people or find a different job where she doesn’t have to interact with people. And now I definitely will not be back to this...

I have come to this store three times. I'm not even sure if anybody actually dies any real work here. The third time, Saturdsy June 24th at 3:30 p.m. a lady in front of me was waiting from the whole time I did my shopping to the time I checked out. I could hear the staff talking on her phone. The bell rang multiple times. When she came out she said "Sorry, I didn't hear the bell." OF COURSE YOU DIDN'T. YOU WETE ON OUR PHONE. I am usually fairly patient, but when the staff flat out makes excuses for poor customer service, that is a no brain bad review for me. The second time, I came and did my whole shopping and left, never saw a single staff member, but this third time takes the cake. Hire people that actually work and dont hide out in the back on...
