This was our first time visiting Helen. We chose the Bears Den Condo because of the stellar reviews. We expected the “very clean” condo as described, but encountered a different scenario. I’m going to try to be detailed on this review so that future guests can make their decisions on what is acceptable for them. The location is outstanding! On the banks of the Chattahoochee River and only a few minutes walk to main street Helen. It is easy to find, on a level road (no steep mountain roads to drive) and well marked. The walk to downtown Helen is swift and enjoyable with beautiful views of the town and mountains while you stroll. It is just a few hundred feet from the Festhalle (city hall where Oktoberfest activities are held). Very relaxing to sit on the porch and watch the tubers and listening to the rushing water. Also, there are several state and national parks within easy drive. BUT: the proximity to Festhalle may mean you hear some loud partiers late at night as they make their way back to their cars. The town grocery, Betty’s, is a little too far to walk with several bags. Upon arrival we were pleased with the updated building and covered parking. The security of locked entry doors and lighting was good. The exterior of the building and lawns were well kept and clean. There is an elevator so that we didn’t have to haul our luggage up the 2 flights of stairs. The size of the condo very roomy with plenty of space for everyone. The kitchen is stocked with everything needed for meal prep. All appliances were clean and worked well. Dish cleaners were provided. There is hand soap at the sinks. The bedrooms were furnished nice and the bathrooms stocked with soap and small shampoo (like hotels). Sofa and chairs in the living room were comfortable. BUT, The light in the elevator didn’t work, it was pitch black while riding. Carpeting was stained in several areas and needs to be cleaned. Wouldn’t walk on it in bare feet. All air vents need to be cleaned. They all have dirty “fuzz” on the vents. By the last day, my husband had a sore throat which dissipated a few hours after we left. Seat pads and area rug on the porch need to be replaced. The king size beds had some kind of plastic mattress protector which decreased our comfort and the sheets kept coming off causing us to re-tuck several times a night. The towels were small and thin and there is not enough. We reused and we would have washed them, but no detergent was provided. The REAL DEAL BREAKER was the mold in the corners of the shower in the master bath. We found this UNACCEPTABLE, but figured nothing could be done by management in the time that we were there. A bath mat would be appreciated for stepping out of the shower onto the tile floors as well. I’m sorry for the length of this review. I hope that the things that were pointed out will help future guest decide on whether this unit is the right place for them. We loved Helen! The town had plenty to do and the people were warm and friendly! We plan to come back in the future, but won’t be staying at this place unless we could be reassured that these problems are remedied.

Janie who helped me book our cabin was exceptionally helpful. She made sure ever detail was covered and even helped me with recommended places for the activities we wanted to make sure places were open. She went above and beyond to make sure we felt prepared before we travelled and felt at home when we arrived. Our home/cabin was spacious and had almost everything we needed. We had a beautiful fire pit, hot tub and multiple decks where we could all have our own space and a great big living area for board games, watching movies and group dinners. My kids loved to play pool and table tennis which kept them busy in the evenings. We enjoyed being so close to town (about 10 minutes from downtown Helen) yet removed enough to be tucked away in the woods and truly enjoy the surroundings and unplug from reality. Blue Creek has beautifully maintained trails near each home packed with wildlife. We saw deer every day, tons of birds, a few turtles and so many beautiful flowers. One day we had a fawn tucked away right next to the house in the trees for hours. Such an amazing experience. We enjoyed our visit to its fullest and would definitely rebook again for our next getaway. Thank you!

We had a great time at the River Bend Lodge. The cabin was very modern, but still felt like we were in the mountains. I would describe it as Rustic Chic! The style reminded me of the cabin from the hit show Virgin River! The house was very spacious. The main floor is very accessible for someone with mobility issues. The teens loved the bottom floor! We loved the privacy of the master suite upstairs! The hot tub is very spacious, and a great way to watch the sunset ! My sons loved the river front fishing. ( It is a small hike, down hill). They caught many large catfish. The cabin surroundings are very quiet, and you have no problem hearing the sounds of nature from the pretty view. The house is equipped with everything you need, and I love that linen and towels are included in the price!

I would like to start off by saying that this company is unprofessional and dishonest to say the least. We saw pictures that by the way are very outdated of a really nice cabin on their website and booked it for our Family Vacation. We drove a long way and when we got to the cabin we saw a "For Sale" sign on the property and when we walked in it was very dirty and full of dog hair everywhere. Some of the utensils were dirty with cake batter on them (Disgusting!) The bathrooms showers had nasty mildew on them we had to put bleach to disinfect. The washer had a strong and foul odor we had to do a clean cycle and even that didn't help. The dryers were full of dog hairs really poor maintenance. On one of the bedrooms it looked like there were bed bugs because one of our family members slept on it and was itching the entire night and woke up with a rash on his upper arms and his back side. The stairwells are very hazardous since they had large nails sticking out on the hand rails and slippery when wet from the rain. This place is not kid or elderly friendly at all. It's no wonder this property is for sale. I called up Blue Creek and we spoke to someone who at first was nice but then seem to get rude and would talk over us and not let us explain. At one point she said that there wasn't anything else that she could do and just hung up the phone. Really unprofessional and no lack of feelings towards their Paying customers. I really tried to be patient but with the amount of money that we paid we should had have had better Customer Service and just a little more compassion. I only stayed there 1 night my family could not bare and stay there another day. Blue Creek could not accommodate us into another cabin and did offer to refund us half of the money but in reality due to the circumstances being their fault they should have refunded us most of the money and not just half. I don't think that it was fair and justifiable from their part knowing that they did not deliver to expectations. Bottom line I have rented many cabins throughout the United States from different Cabin Rental Companies and I have never ever seen such a bad company as this one I would not recommend using this dishonest Cabin Rental...

Long story short: -Booked a cabin on Blue Creek’s website for a really low price 8 months ago -Signed contract, paid 50% of total to reserve cabin.

-Got confirmation email for my trip saying cabin was reserved and all paperwork completed.

Fast forward to now: -Blue Creek calls to tell me they sold the cabin I’d paid to reserve.

-Also that I was paying too little to stay there anyway even though it was confirmed 8 months prior and bought on their own website.

-Am told I will be sent a list of other available cabins at a discounted rate. All cabins on the sent list are at least +300% the original price.

-I ask that the price when contract was signed 8 months ago to be honored, even if it was a mistake on their end.

-I ask for a better deal than having me pay triple to stay in an alternative cabin

-Blue Creek didn’t budge at all and instead canceled my stay and broke their own contract.

Office staff was rude pretty much the whole time. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone. Greedy Company, Doesn’t care about its Customers, Won’t honor their own contract or own up to mistakes.

EDIT IN RESPONSE TO REPLY:

4 weeks notice during the holiday season on a 10 month paid reservation is terrible customer service, yet you mention it here as if that's perfectly ok.

The two discounts you combined were 5% for being a returning customer, and one night free for booking 7 full nights, which is the current special you're running. Both of these were applied to the previous cabin anyway.

Even with your offered combined discounts on another property you wanted me to pay 300% more than was signed for in the contract 10 months ago, blowing off the price difference as a "technical error with our site." On a booking made and paid for TEN. MONTHS. AGO.

Live up to and honor your mistakes. Terrible customer service.

I asked for additional documentation and to speak to the owner and was told I would get a call the next day. I never did. All I got was an email essentially saying you were done dealing with me and a refund, even though I had not requested one.

0/10 I only wish In could give you less than one star. Don't let this happen to you folks, there are plenty of other cabin rental companies...
