rarely write a review, and the few I have were to give a raging positive review. However, I feel the need to warn anyone looking at the Alexa to run. It has been a horrible experience from move in day. We drove across the country and was told that they pushed move in date back by 3 weeks. They did not call us. We were calling to see if we could get in a few days early and they notified us at that time. We had to find a rental for 3 weeks last minute during the summer. When move in day finally came we were told we had the elevator from 9-12. We had the movers there at 9 am sharp and it was pouring rain. The front door was locked and there was a sign on the door stating they were in a meeting. They left us and several others out in the rain for an hour. When they finally came to the door there was no apology, but we were told we still only had until 12. It only went downhill from there. You can view the picture of the luxury pool in this picture and this is how it often looked because the pump kept breaking down. Elevator rarely worked. If you go to the office to let the staff know you will receive retaliation. I did make the mistake about halfway through the year by sending a well written email to corporate, as did many other residents, because nothing was being addressed by the front office staff. I am sure that is why Shelby has been so nasty since. She was even overheard yelling at a resident telling them that she owes the residents nothing! Who would say that? Shelby is nonresponsive and one of the rudest individuals I have ever met. To top it off, she is very dishonest. It clearly states in our lease that we are a secure residence and are not permitted to run a business or Airbnb out of our place. She allowed one female to not only run a business but she rented it out through Airbnb. We called her out on it and she lied, but we finally got the Airbnb taken down. However she continued to run the business and gave all of our codes out on a public forum on Facebook to the entire city. Shelby knew about all of it and lied to everyone. I finally made it to the end of the lease and moved out. Although there were two professional adults with no kids or pets living there, we were told that we owed 1200$ over the deposit because they replaced all carpet, had to repaint all walls, and so many other tiny items. There was absolutely no stains or damage to that apartment when we left. I have asked for receipts and received a generic “estimate only”, no receipt of the actual work. I have left a weeks worth of phone calls and emails to corporate with no response. Please do not get involved with this company. So many professionals have spent up to $4000 to break their lease because it is so bad there. I hope this helps others never have to deal with...
Read moreMy relocation to The Alexa after selling our previous home was seamless—thanks largely to the truly remarkable team. From day one, Alex, Amanda, and Quinn exemplified professionalism and responsiveness. They helped coordinate a tight move-in schedule with ease, promptly answering each question, guiding us through paperwork, and anticipating our needs. Their warmth and dedication made settling in stress-free.
After a month of living here, I’ve been continually impressed by the impressive facilities. The units reflect high-quality construction—thoughtfully designed with premium finishes. Maintenance is constantly handling preventative checks and minor fixes before they become an issue. In short, the building’s upkeep speaks to a well-managed property. All lines of communication are open and proactive. Whether sharing parking reminders, pool closures, or package alerts, management consistently provides timely updates without cluttering inboxes. It’s clear they respect residents’ time.
Security here is robust. Controlled-access entry, well-lit common areas, and parking garages provided immediate peace of mind. I haven’t experienced a single feeling of unease during my time.
The resident community is another highlight. Neighbors are courteous professionals who take pride in their homes and maintain respectful interactions in shared spaces—whether in the lounge, by the pool, or on the sidewalk. It’s a well-balanced, considerate environment where positive interactions flourish.
As part of living here at The Alexa, I’m thoroughly enjoying waterfront living backed by a team that truly cares... Exceptional staff, outstanding construction and maintenance, strong safety measures, and a respectful, professional community—this place delivers on every front. If you’re seeking a refined, supportive, and peaceful living experience, The Alexa on Ocean Drive should be at the top...
Read moreThis place certainly is not luxury. Start with its exceedingly poor construction. Venting for dryers and fans, as well as, seals around doors and windows are so poor that water literally pours in through ceilings and ac vents, open your dryer to find standing water in the machine, mold grows on walls and ruins clothes. I have pictures and video of it all including furry green shoes from my closet. In-unit AC frequently clogs triggering your air conditioning to shut off in the middle of the South Texas summer (not pleasant). Carpet thresholds pull away from the subfloor. The parking garage drips white goo from the ceiling on foggy mornings (which are frequent in Corpus Christi) staining cars and the parking garage. The elevators seldom are all operational, and the pool if often green and closed. The entire complex has been "trimmed" in mismatched, flickering and broken led lighting which is unsightly to view and obnoxiously bright in your windows at night. I agree with the other reviews about poor business practices - I was unfortunately a day late on rent while travelling and was charged a late fee equivalent to over 60% of the rent due. Extreme, if not abusive.
I gave it two stars because they do have a decent coffee machine if you're willing to wait until the office opens mid-morning for...
