I am absolutely astonished this place is rated so highly and Iâm curious to learn more about why others think this place is such a good RV park. This was NOT our experience at all and I would strongly encourage you to reconsider any other place. Let me share with you why: -street lights along the row of RV spots by the River. Give up any hope of stargazing or light discipline or night vision if you stay in this area. Itâs absurd. -the park is directly next to a 4 lane highway that goes in and out of Cottonwood. Itâs noisy at all hours of the day and anything less than peaceful. -in addition to the traffic youâll get a lovely serenade each night by what I call the âscreaming kidsâ but my partner says is âmating bullfrog soundsâ. Either way the noise starts around 7pm and goes all night. -a skunk sprayed our camping area the first night. It was so smelly outside our trailer Iâm glad we werenât in a tent -gravel, gravel, and more gravel. Donât bring a dog here that needs grass - you wonât find anyâŚunless you get closer to the river. -false advertising. There are no wooded trails. There is a sandy path that follows the river for 1/4 of a mile. Good luck getting the sand out of your shoes or socks. If you need stable ground to walk you must go elsewhere. Also - there is no dog park or area. Itâs just the base of the river. -there is a lovely path to the historical mound next to the property. Be very careful if you take your dog as some jerks have smashed bottles everywhere leaving scary glass pieces for your dogs to encounter. There are also some lovely friends staying at the end of one of these paths with their curious off leash dogs - so be warned! -there is one bathroom/shower house on the entire property. If youâre along the row by the River prepare to walk a few minutes back and forth. If youâre at the end of this row plan for at least 5 min to get there. The bath house has 3 bathrooms and no a/c. Taking a shower on an 80 degree day (or more) is almost worthless as youâll be sweating once you get out. Here is the kicker - they like to change the code on the door without telling you!! Yeah, we checked in on Wed and went out into town on Thursday and when we returned they had changed the code WITHOUT telling us! So we tried to use the bathrooms and they wouldnât work. I went to the office to inquire and the sign said âclosedâ (during working hours) but thankfully someone was inside. When I asked about the code the answer I got was âwell, we have to change it occasionallyâ. It was so rude and unbelievable to say to a customer who got a different code the DAY before and you changed it with no notice. I do not read minds but encourage the owner to have a little more consideration for visitors. -WiFi is questionable and repeatedly did not work.
Pros - the laundry was clean and most of the washers and dryers worked. Bring your own supplies or else! The bathrooms/showers were fairly cleaned although Iâm not sure how often they get cleaned. I found my parters body wash the day after they took a shower and someoneâs loofah the next day. At least you can get your stuff you forget!
I added a number of photos and a video of the road (at 7am) to provide some...

The Rio Verde RV Park is what every RV Park should emulate. The staff is sincere and honestly do care about your experience with them. The cleanest bathrooms and showers I have found anywhere and the laundry is fairly priced. This was not my first stay, nor will it be my last. I have made some good friends there and that is priceless, particularly when traveling alone. For the best traveling experience you will ever have, be sure to mark Rio Verde on your map. Blessings Brandi Walters
When I made the decision to sell my home and travel the United States in a motorhome, it wasnât very long before I realized that the destination is far less important than the journey. I Have met a lot of terrific people who, like me like to play a little music at sunset and share our experiences. Our goals, our expectations, our hopes and our dreams. Many people I have met have never had the chance to even ask these questions of themselves. My experiences At Rio Verde could not have been better or more enlightening. There are a lot of very aware humans there, staff and guests. If you just stay in your shell and donât step out of yourself then what is different in your travels? Get to know your neighbors, even if it is only for a day or two. I think you will discover there is a whole new world, just beyond the horizon and itâs waiting just for you. Mark this place on your map and if you are in the area be sure to stop in. You will be treated like the royalty that you are. Blessings Brandi Walters
11/15 I have stayed at Rio Verde RV Park on several occasions now. By far, my favorite place and I live in my RV full time. The staff here are very special people. Amanda, for example, bakes the best Sourdough bread I have ever had and I grew up in San Francisco and know sourdough. Be sure to order some for the holidays. I guarantee you will LOVE this bread. Would you like to know why? This woman only bakes with...
Read moreWe felt so spoiled at Rio Verde! Let me start by saying, we had been dispersed camping throughout Utah for 8 days and when I woke up that 9th morning, I was practically in tears ready for a real bathroom & real shower. I was so grateful to have a reservation at Rio Verde.
When we arrived, Amanda greeted us in the office with the biggest smile and some treats for the pup! She provided us with a map and instructions to get to our campsite. #41. In my opinion, it's one of the best sites in the whole park. It backed to the river with lots of trees overhead. I would say we had shade over the picnic table by 10a. Thankfully, because it gets really warm during the day.
The site areas are very well maintained, as well as the dog park. Neighbors were friendly and respectful. Their were some small families, retires, younger couples, and solo campers. The bathrooms and showers were spotless! After 8 days of dispersed camping, it might have been the best shower of my entire life!
We had only booked for 2 nights and loved it so much we decided to stay for an extra night. We walked right into the office and Mandy was there. She was just as sweet as Amanda from our first day. Quick and easy to extend our stay.
On the very last night, around midnight, we heard some rummaging around our camper. When I looked out the window, I thought I saw a pig which seems odd. After a closer look I realized about 10 Javelinas had come into the camping area. Since we were not familiar with the area, it definitely caught us off guard. Thankfully, we keep a tidy camp so they weren't able to get into anything. I also read that they can attack dogs, so I'm glad we were safe in our camper. I am not sure if this is a common occurrence or just a one off. If it is common, it would have been helpful to get that insight or have some signage somewhere. By no means does this take away from the wonderful time we had at Rio Verde RV Park
Conveniently located near Cottonwood and easy access to Sedona, along with all the sites and activities in the area! 10/10 HIGHLY...
