Rick Martin, Matthew Martin and I went to Covington Movies with some friends today to see Aquaman. The movie was great the establishment was NOT. When we got there they had the signage for Aquaman and Mary Poppins reversed. When Mary Poppins started playing I went out to see what was wrong. Sometime after we and about twenty others had entered the wrong room the signage was changed, however they did not bother to announce this so we could move before the movie started.
Then after moving, finding empty seats as the ones that matched our tickets were occupied the manager comes in because I am setting in someone’s seat. I can’t hear what he is saying so I get up and leave the movie. He then proceeds to tell me that I am in someone’s seat. I tell him that someone is in ours and then rather than have everyone move he decides to find a seat for the person who came in late.
They would not start the movie over when we first moved to the correct room. Then after the movie was over we were told that had we chosen to leave when the mistake was found we would have been given refund. What about the popcorn, candy and drinks. Also the arrangements made to get there to see the movie in the first place.
I love the new seats, however I will not be returning to...
Read moreJust saw the Jungle Book last night (Apr 14, 2016) for five bucks. Yes, it helps to be over 60 years old. While this theater isn't new or lacking in "old movie theater" aromas, they have replaced the old seats with new ones (with cup holders, not that I drink soda). Sweet! Ok, you're right, some movies do project outside of the actual white screen, and sometimes they do forget to start the movie on time ... but it's still nice to have a local theater in such a ghost town. However, my personal favorite theater is still the new-ish one in Lewisburg, WV. But when you're not up to a sixty mile roundtrip drive, it's nice to have this theater in Covington.
It's a short walk from home to the theater, which reminds me of when I use to live in D.C. ... as in one can walk to do stuff ... well, without the over crowding. Like all theaters, snacks are way over priced, and obviously loaded with carb's that are bad for everyone's health. It's unlikely that any theater will ever offer a spring mix salad with black olives, feta cheese, olive oil, and apple cider vinegar. Besides, you can make it two hours without shoving something in your mouth. Right?
Cut your digestive system a break ... you know, fast more...
Read moreThe management of this theatre is subpar. I arrived to the theatre 10 minute early for a showing and the doors were still locked. I could see staff inside cleaning the theatre, this was the first showing of the day so cleaning should have been done the night before at closing in my opinion. They finally opened the doors 5 minutes AFTER the showing was supposed to begin. Because staff was so focused on cleaning from the day before, they did not have time to make popcorn for guests. The movie started when it was supposed to so everyone who got tickets missed the first 15 minutes due to staff not unlocking the doors in a timely matter. After watching the movie for 30 minutes, the movie suddenly cut off. I went out to ask what was going on and management said they were going to start the movie over to accommodate the fact that they were late with the doors. This would have been fine if we had not already watched 30 minutes of the movie. Management did not offer an apology, but offered a refund. After reading reviews, it seems this has happened before at this theatre. This was a stressful and unpleasant experience. Also there was no toilet paper in the...
