took a 500$ external drive that can run an OS in that wouldn't power on- i assumed it was the power supply, -took it to them, to see if it was a failed drive or the power cable. their Techs assessment was "it powers on but the drive is corrupt, no files can be extracted, you can try reformatting the drive, it will erase everything but will delete all the data" I responded "but it powered on?" the techs response "yeah it powers on but none of your data can be accessed, it'll cost around 60$ to try to reformat it or we can send it off for around 600$" I respond, "im definitely not reformatting it as it has 15years of master files save to it of my professional career work and definitely cant swing the 600$" Techs respond, "ok, well I'll throw it away for you then" My response "NO!! im not throwing it away it has 15years of music production on it" Techs response "you might is well, its trash at this point" My response, "no im definitely not throwing it away, you said it powers on and I may be able to swing 600 at some point in the distant distant future" Tech response, "really its probably not even worth sending it off I can see the boot files are corrupt, (or something along these lines) my reply, AGAIN!! "im not throwing it away no either way, do you have a power supply I can by since it powered on?" techs response "sure but your wasting your money"
-although grateful for his advice to not waste 12$ on a power supply, I bought the power supply, brought the Drive home, and miraculously the drive powers on just as it always has all my files were there. nothing corrupt. im not gonna make assumptions as to why he, thought the drive was corrupt, or as to why he was so adamant about me leaving it in his trash. but I am going to say. the drive was a very high end expensive drive (right around 500$) and I will conclude - if he truly thought the drive was corrupt, I wouldn't want him working on any of my devices. this was roughly 2.5yrs ago, and now I need a different device fixed. I will not be...
Read moreThese folks hit a grand slam every time I go in their shop! They are the forerunners of cutting edge tech, astounding customer service, and smashingly competitive pricing. I visit them as often as possible and I can't remember leaving the shop with a scowl.....I'm always grinning as I egress to say the least. They have the largest variety of gaming systems and media that I have ever encountered. Everything from the original Pong, the first Atari, Tandy and Commodore, up to the newest PS5 games and custom built Alienware turbojet systems. If it's not in stock it's either not on the market or just a wink away from their shelf (they will find it for you at blink speed). These folks will not only price match, they usually beat the competition!! This hometown locally owned business is sticking it to the big players like GameStop and WallyWorld with vengeance and style. If these sluggers ever franchise out it will surely change the face of retro, current, and future tech and gaming in whatever marketing region they choose. And I did just remember leaving Computer Wiz with a frown once. Upon my next trip to 'the Wiz', the owner initiated my experience by explaining that he had tried to catch me as I pulled out of their parking lot at my last visit. He then took the time to teach me about what I had errantly misunderstood and discounted my newest purchase to boot!! If you haven't given Computer Wiz a try, I suggest that you do. It seems that they have recently expanded their operating hours to better serve us, their locally grown and respectfully...
Read moreAbsolutely not professional on the owners side, changed prices from what they were stickered while I was at the cash register. Saying this game no longer goes for this price on the sticker. I bought a couple of duplicates for trading purposes and even told the guy that was checking me out that and the owner came up and looked at what I was purchasing and said “why are you buying so many of the same game” and I told him for trades and he said “more like you thought you’d catch us sleeping on them” I still bought them even though they bumped up the price of the games in front of me, and even told the owner I was gonna buy them anyways. After interacting with the owner I definitely won’t be back to the store, my husband and I spent well over $500+ on the games. Would not recommend for anyone who buys duplicates for trade bait or wants to get a decent deal on games because they price chart/eBay it and change the price infront of you. Only reason I’m giving it a 2 star is because at least the guy that checked us out was very nice. I wish this store nothing but the...
