I have to go along with many of the other reviews. I ordered a 12 inch running light and was sent a 24 inch light which had a tag on it describing it as a 12 inch light. After receiving it I immediately contacted customer service and was told that a pickup would be issued to me and the correct size light would be sent. All to occur ib 3-5 business days. Well, you guessed it. Nothing happened and I had to contact the company again. Talked to another representative (heavy accent which made it difficult to communicate-plus I don't hear well) and was told that my item wasn't in stock and when I showed some anger and frustration, all of a sudden it is in stock and here we go again with another 3-5 business days. It has been over a week again and I have heard nothing from the company. I am calling my credit card company to dispute the charge. In the meantime, I have a light that I can't use and a company who can't fill an order. I should receive a computer generated apology letter soon after submitting this review much like the others received. Extremely disappointed with this company. I have made purchases from many marine suppliers and have never had an experience like this. Thwy have my email address and phone number and I am still waiting. All total, I have been waiting for.more than a month. Anybody out there need a 24 inch running light? An FYI, the person who owns BoatID also owns CarID and MotorcycleID. I.have not done business with either but if you need car or motorcycle parts you might want to be concerned that you might have a similar experience.
Just wanted to add some followup information. I "easially" contacted the manfacturer of the light as they were concerned that they might have put the wrong identification on the light. When I provided them a picture of the sticker on the light they indicated that they do not use a sticker, but a hanging tag with the information. BOATID was not dealing with the manufacturer as they indicated. At least in this case and, I bet, in other cases as well. Who knows where they obtain their products, but in this case it did not come from the manufacturer. As we can see, they seem to use the same lines with all of the disgruntled customers. I, like many others, will continue to discourage others to use this "marine supplier". They give the industry a bad name and lie about their relationships with...
Read moreShips fast but horrible customer service. I ordered six new locks for a client's boat and request all locks would have the same key. I was given confirmation that all six would have the same key via phone by the sales rep. When the locks were delivered, one of the six did not have a matching key. I called customer service, they apologized for the issue, and ensured the order would be fixed. I sent the one lock back to BOATiD, and within a few days a new lock set was sent to me. The new lock was still not a match to the other five. I called and emailed customer service to which they told me to send back the lock again in order to fix the order. In the meantime, because I was told the order would be fixed, I installed the five correct locks on my client's boat. When BOATiD received my second returned lock, I received an email stating that there was nothing they could do to fix the order as the manufacturer would not send the matching key/lock that I needed to match the other five. After a month of emailing back and forth, they told me that the best they could do was issue a refund for the one lock. In response, I requested a full refund for all locks as I needed six matching locks and was promised that when I placed the order. I was told by a manager there was nothing BOATiD could do as they would not accept a return/refund on all items because the five locks were already installed, and I did not have the packaging. The manager proceeded to tell me that they would refund the one lock and issue me a $25 in store credit. I paid $193.00 for the six locks... The manager then told me that they could return one lock and give me $50.00 back on my credit card for the inconvenience. I told the manager that I was still missing out on approximately $100.00 because I wanted a full refund/return of the order. The manger told me that they could not refund me more than that because they would be at a loss of profit for this order? BOATiD cares more about making a buck than caring for their customers. BOATiD profited off my incorrect order. I highly recommend not supporting this company and to purchase from a company that puts the...
Read moreWorst website I've ever purchased from. I typically only take the time to write reviews which are positive, or unless my experience was extremely negative. If you can avoid BOATiD and take your business elsewhere, I would.
I purchased a control box from them which turned out to be the incorrect part (by 1 part number). I found out when my boat mechanic was able to look at installing the control box (It's 2020, and just about every business has stretched timeframes due to COVID). In trying to exchange the part for the proper one, I was initially promised that I would receive a shipping label in 48 hours. 48 hours pass, and I call asking for the label, and I am told that I need to wait 1-3 business days, so the label should arrive tomorrow at the latest. Well after waiting 1 business day beyond the new due date, I called again. After being told initially that I didn't have my label because the response time "was now 3-5 business days", I was placed on hold, and then informed that they wouldn't make the exchange. Because my purchase date was over 30 days ago. (About 2 months since purchase as of writing this review).
The part I wanted to exchange is in pristine condition, and hasn't been touched except by a mechanic to see it was the wrong part. They wasted a week of my time with lies about the return process and policy, and for my efforts, I get to purchase another control box and list the current one. I would have purchased the correct part from them, if they hadn't wasted so much of my time with lousy customer service and ever-shifting vague...
