A neighborhood Ace that beats out the nearby Ace Hardware Stores. I have been to the Ace in Steger that is only a few miles away and the Crete Ace is a much better experience. It isn't that the Steger Ace is bad, it is just that the Crete one feels cleaner, more organized and the associates there seem eager to help. I especially like that when an associate is unsure how to help you or answer a question, they go and find someone that can and bring that person to you. They have a great rental desk with many different items for short term rental. I have rented walk behind tillers; a cast iron pipe cutter and other items and the items always are in good working order. You can also drop of UPS there and if you need (I haven't) get your screens and double paned windows...

I did not however see any other employees besides the cashier wearing a mask above the chin. While searching for plumbing parts 2 unmasked employees entered the aisle, approaching me before I politely asked them to pull the mask up. The first guy, Ray, even had the gall to complain that "I would probably complain to the manager now" Well I wasn't, but now Ray has earned the store a 1 star review. I stopped by Ace Hardware in Crete looking for specific plants to match my gardenāand guess what? They had exactly what I needed! From a flat of beautiful flowers to garden soil and even cow manure (yes, my first time buying it š±š«£), Ace had me fully covered.
What really stood out, beyond the solid selection, was the excellent customer service. The staff was helpful, welcoming, and made my quick trip an easy and enjoyable one.
Ace really came through for my garden needs. Iāll definitely be back for future planting...
