I contacted J&W in Dec., the ladies told me sharply that if I could freeze my deer meat and contact them in Jan. She actually called me back to apologize for being so curt. I told her no problem and I would check back in Jan as directed. I called jan.7th around 12:30pm and talked to a man, I assume the owner. I asked if it would be ok to bring my meat to them to have my sausage made, he said yes. It would take 3 to 4 weeks to complete, I said ok. The wife and I drove from Lake Jackson to Crockett Tx on the 8th. Upon arrival J&W was closed. I left a voice message explaining the situation and never got a call Wednesday from around 1:30 pm. I contact J&W Thursday morning the 9th, the man answered the phone, I said hello and I was calling to make sure they were open. The owner answered Why wouldn't we be open. I replied because I was at their place the day before and they were closed. He asked me my name, I answered and he hung up. I thought it was a phone issue so I drove back to J&W . When I entered I was greeted nicely by the lady, then I was asked my name and then told I was a SMART ALECK, several times

I decided not to leave my meat and left the meat market without incident. You decide if this is the way you want...

This is a great old-fashioned butcher shop. Very high quality meats at reasonable prices! We've been there six or seven times and have had an opportunity to try a lot of the products.

The homemade sausages are excellent and there is a wide variety of flavors to choose from. The boudin is also quite delicious. The summer sausage with jalapeno cheese is awesome. They also make a high quality rhine on bacon.

Some of the best steaks I've ever had we purchased from here. Great pork chops, great pan sausage, high quality ground meat and none of it has water added into it like it's a lot of grocery stores and other places do. All these things will be cut just the way you want them cut.

I grew up eating crown roasts and for over a decade or more it's been impossible for me to find the cut anywhere even in small butcher shops. They actually made me one and it was really good we had people over and the company...

My sister in law, mom, and I stopped in J&W on the way home (south of Houston) from our weekend in Canton, and I am so glad we made this stop. The snack sticks were the best my husband and I have ever had and we frequent meat markets in our local area and the hill country where we have property. The sausage has great flavor and some of the best we have ever had and we purchased the jalapeño/cheese link and Cajun link. My sister in law shared her cheddar cheese and it was some of the best I have ever had, and they were so kind to slice it for us. The service was top notch and their kindness will be remembered. Next time we are in Crockett we will make sure we time it right and stop in for another round of great tasting meat! Thank goodness we travel with a cooler! Thank you J&W until next time, but we will be stocking up with the snack sticks...
